My mama kitty had 6 babies a week ago. Last night before I went to bed I checked on all 6 and this morning I had to run errands and didn't have time to check in them. I was gone two hours and when I got home there was only 5! I've looked everywhere in the house and I can't find it! I don't hear it crying anywhere. I'm thinking maybe it died and she put it somewhere but a few passed in her previous litter and she just left the dead ones there so idk why this time would be any different. Its really stressing me bc if its not alive and in my house I have to find it! I was thinking maybe she took it outside and no one noticed. I'm just so confused and bothered.

Ok...calm down, and count again! Could it be under a blanket, another kitten, her? Something nearby?

You mentioned that maybe she took it outside and no one noticed. Does she normally go outside? Have you checked around out there where she may have gone?

What areas of the house does she have access to? Can she get outside? Are there any laundry baskets or anything similar nearby that she could have put the kitten in?

Is she acting strangely at all? Maybe let her loose in the house and follow her to see if she goes to it?

She goes in and out as she pleases, so I thought maybe early this morning when my step dad left to work she could have taken it outside,I did look around the yard but she goes under the house and roams around the neighbors yards too. I just don't know why she would have moved it even if it had passed bc she didn't with her last litter

She is limited to the living room, kitchen and my sisters room which I've searched each place high and low, looked in all baskets, blankets, under the couch, bed, literally everywhere. She's acting normal, and not searching.

Have you tried googling baby kittens crying and playing it near her? She go searching for it.

Do you have a dog?? When I first brought my foster kitty Henry home, he was the best ever at finding hiding places. After I looked everywhere in his room, I brought the dog in and watched her. She sniffed him out in about 5 seconds. I then gave her a treat and sent her out of the room so he wouldn't get scared by her.

If you gather up the other babies and then play a kitten crying sound she may go looking for the lost one...and you can follow.

Have you looked under the house yet?

She's not really "limited" if she can go outside. I would not allow her outside anymore while she has young kittens.

Unfortunately no. Its a mystery, I've tried everything all I can hope for is that its not in the house.
