Hello all! This is my go-to forum for cat questions, and I'm posting now since I'm driving myself nuts with second-guessing.
My kittens Banshee and Beau were spayed/neutered, respectively, on Friday. Beau bounced back quickly of course, but it's been a while since I've had to have a cat spayed and I want to make sure Banshee's incision is healing okay. I thought I'd get the forums opinion before I consider calling the vet necessary. The vet used a laser on her so I think the incision is much smaller than usual, she only needed one external stitch in addition to the internal ones. I know some redness and scabbing,
swelling is normal, considering it was only a few days ago. But it seems as if one end of the incision has a bit of a gap to it. Her behavior is fine- she's eating and drinking, bright and alert, trying to play too much with Beau. It doesn't have a funky smell- actually I think it still smells a bit like the disinfectant they must have used-, and there's no pus drainage. A few clear droplets, but nothing excessive. I have an e-collar I put on her when I leave the apartment and at night, and if I think she's getting the idea to sniff at it. She usually slips it at night, she's a bit small for the smallest collar, but I really haven't seen her pay much attention to it.
My nurse mothers advice was to let the body heal itself, that it was normal for a suture to separate a little at the edges, just to monitor her behavior, if it starts to have drainage or get too hot. Do you agree?

Thanks for any advise or sharing similar situations. Sorry for the awkward pictures, Banshee didn't really want to stretch out on her back for a photoshoot. The one on the left is from this morning, the one on the right was yesterday.
