I'm not going to go in to a lot of detail but here is the link to a forum in case you're interested in knowing what I'm talking about http://www.thecatsite.com/t/304557/please-help

This issue that I was having finally had a solution. I'm overwhelmed and very very VERY thankful for the amount of support fellow members have given me throughout. Words can not describe how much I'm grateful for those people who tried to help me with their advice. But at the same time I feel so stressed out, and a bit depressed. I suffer from GAD (an anxiety disorder) I felt like this was too much for me to handle and I felt so helpless when I didn't know what to do. I cried out of frustration, & it still gets to me just thinking about it. I'm hoping Anubis recovers quickly, though I am still not sure if I will keep him for sure. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to about this because they might think it's ridiculous & im overreacting. I'm so tired, I haven't eaten anything, I'm not even hungry. I don't know why I keep crying even though Anubis already has his medicine to help him get better. Also, since I've spent most of my time taking care of him I haven't spent much time with my other cat. I would baby talk her and pet her and kiss her head but I'm not sure if it was enough. & I know she senses it. After I gave Anubis his antibiotics and let him rest, I went out to try an recover lost time with my cat. I guess she was able to smell him even though I washed my hands and she kept hissing at me. Now I'm worried she will stress & hate me. My cat sleeps in my room every night but since I have to keep an eye on Anubis I let her stay in the living room for now so she won't get infected since URI is contagious through direct contact. It's also hard for me to sleep without her but I'm only doing it to keep her from getting sick. I'm having a lot of emotions at the moment. Even though Anubis already has his medication I still feel guilty & sad.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm not expecting anyone to reply, but I just really needed to vent somewhere where I know there are people who may have gone through something similar..

You are under a lot of stress right now. It is a good thing that the sick kitty is finally getting loved and treatment for the infection. You are trying to do the right thing by not exposing your other cat to sickness. Keep focused in thinking that all this is temporary. You are doing what you believe is right for both of these cats that you love. Now you must concentrate on taking care of yourself too. Your cat might just be picking up on your stress. Try to do something special for yourself that you can enjoy. It is important for you and for your cats. It is fine to vent here. Many of us have been through taking care of sick cats and we understand how emotional it can be. There is nothing wrong with crying. It can help. But remember that cats can pick up on our feelings. I wish you well with these fur babies. It is a wonderful thing that this sick one is being loved and cared for.

Thank you for your kind words. It's really hard caring for a sick cat and I can't help but worry about whether he'll make it. I over think things too much. I also haven't had any sleep. I had to wake up every hour to give him the medication he needs. I got up at 2:55am to give him his eye drops, then at 4 because he woke up and started meowing, then at 5:50am for his nasal drops and his oral antibiotic turn was at 6:45 am so I stayed awake and have not gone back to sleep since then. But I'd give anything to watch Anubis grow healthy. Last night I took advantage of his sleeping to cuddle with my other cat in the living room. I have changed clothes so his scent wasn't on me and she allowed me to cuddle with her. So it put me at ease.

You're doing a fantastic job with this cat. I don't think anyone could do better.

it's hard to not worry when they are sick but try to relax. He has the medication he needs to get well.  Cats pick up on the vibes we give off and react to them similarly. He's a very lucky cat to have someone who loves him so much. I hope he gets better soon.

lallorona lallorona Yes, it can consume your life. I have been there and done it, over and over with sick cats. It never gets easier. But it helps to have a support group who fully understand what you are going through. I am glad you are here, with us. Maybe we can be a source of peace and comfort for you while you are going through a tough time.

How sweet, the cuddles with the other kitty. I am without a cat for the first time in over thirty years. Sometimes I ache to hold one. So I urge you and others who read this to enjoy every minute with those precious piles of fur. They are a part of you that never goes away. :sigh:

I am so sorry that you are feeling anxiety. Sick cats are an around-the-clock job. Many of us have been in your shoes and it never gets any easier.

You will feel better if you can eat and catch a nap. It's amazing what food and sleep do to nourish and restore our minds, bodies, and souls. Cuddling with your resident cat helps as well, since she knows something is up.
