So are you getting those drops in?

How much of his inner lids are showing? No, it is certainly NOT normal, I can't imagine a vet telling you this.....

Poor guy, the bag scared him!

His keeping his eyes closed all of the time is worrisome. I mean, not just some of the time because he is resting from not feeling well, but all of the time?!

Wow.......I look at this like he is in really bad shape, I mean I know he is anyway, but I am just lost for reason with this, even sick kittens open their eyes.

Maybe they are irritated, get the drops in as due and let's see if anything improves with this.

Tmrw morning hopefully there will be some improvement, don't expect him to go zipping around chewing your ankles but maybe a bit of an appetite would be nice to see.

You're doing great!!
I think that when the vet told her seeing the 3rd eye was 'normal', she meant it was 'normal - under the circumstances'.  Yes, because he has such a severe eye infection, it is very normal for his 3rd lid to be so prominent. It is for protection, cleansing, and lubrication.  In a healthy cat, it is rarely seen.  Perhaps just poor communication or perception of what was said?

When i was nursing my VERY ill dying kitten to life i fed him human baby Gerber meats (the ones that come in tiny glass jars and are VERY mushy and liquid). One jar is $1 in Dallas. It is worth it because it is very EASY to put it in a surenge and forcefeed it. A LOT easier than anything else (and i tried it all: mushy wet food and other things). But my kitten liked it actually so much he started eating it himself after a couple of times even though he was very weak. I strongly recommend it unless you found another way to feed him.

Gerber baby food is sold at every drugstore and grocery store.
Oh Anubis has his food. It's prescription canned food. It's very mushy so it's easy for him to swallow :) I was only given 4 cans though, but my vet also said I can blend tuna (in water) and feed it to him. So when I run out I can just buy canned tuna ahead of time of course, but now I'm also thinking of trying baby food!
Thank you for sharing this with me. It gives me the hope for his survival. If your kitty survived, Anubis can too! :)

My kitten was in very bad shape and the vet suggested to put him to sleep. Keep fighting for your baby! I did need to take mine in to the vet quite a few times tho...

I would actually prefer he was given chicken or turkey baby food over tuna, when you do run out that is.

I think the food he is on now is the best at this point. I imagine it is the critical care prescription food.

I just realized that on The label on Anubis' eye medication it says I must give it to him every 8 hours, but right now i saw the back of the box and it says I have to administer every 4 hours!! Could this be the reason why his eyes have not yet healed!!!! How could I have not seen this! I feel so guilty

Tobramycin drops should be one drop per eye 3 times a day.

When you put the drop in, be holding him with his head back so that the drop doesn't immediately run right out of his eye.

This will help get them healed much sooner.

Here are some things I have noticed in Anubis:
- softer fur
- smacks lips
- cleans himself with his paw (you know when they do that cute thing where they're rubbing their paws over their face/ears and licking themselves) LICKING! He didn't even lick these first few days!
- yawns (he has not yawned until now)
- does not fight the srynge as much (he did not fight his supper last night and was not messy about it!)

Here is a picture of him licking himself right now. I couldn't get a good picture because he's moving but it you pay close attention you could see his little tongue.

P.s. After I took this picture he started licking his foot too!!!!!

(TMI) I'm just amazed that he has the strength to at least clean him self. Here he is cleaning his bum bum. 4 days ago the poor guy was too weak to even use his licking reflex (is that even word lol). And now he cleans himself. This is giving me so much hope. This has got to be one of the first out of many signs of recovery, right? Pls tell me it is! nothing would start bringing my soul back to life more than knowing he's officially Starting his road to recovery..

Yes this is a very good sign. It means that all your hard work is paying off. Keep up the work though he's clearly getting stronger and you may be able to get him eating and drinking on his own soon. He looks much better than he did before.  You do still need to keep an eye on him.

I'm no expert, but it certainly sounds like a good sign to me.  You've done such a good job with him!    Hopefully you'll have some progress with his eyes today.

It looks like he's coming along, thanks to you!

I'm looking forward to his eyes getting better soon, hopefully :).

Did you freeze the broth and pedialyte?

Did you set up a litter box for him yet? Your room will smell like pee unless he has a designated box. He already knows how to use it.

I also want to recommend Gerber turkey or chicken baby food. Around a dollar a jar but so easy to feed and digest, and very high protein. Tuna is much too difficult for him to eat at this point.

Keep up the good work!

Yes I just put it in the freezer actually. I was preparing Anubis's meal for the day and divided the rest of the canned food for the next 2 days (vet wants 1/3 of can to be his daily maintenance). I put the pedialyte in a separate container though. I didn't mix it with the meal for the day because by the time it's dinner time it will already be past the 48 hours and I'm worried if I feed him it might harm him. So I think I'll just mix his dinner with water. Also, if tomorrow I want to use pedialyte for his food do I unfreeze over night, and tomorrow morning put the amount I'm going to use in another container and put it in the fridge, & put the pedialyte bottle back in the freezer? Would it still be effective through out the day tomorrow?

As for his eyes, I'm not sure if you have read but I found out that I was supposed to be administering his drops every 4 hours, not 8. The label said to administer every 8 hours but the back of the box said every 4 hours. I even thought it was weird it had to be administered every 8 hours. I thought it was a long wait. I was only trying to follow vet's orders, if I would have known it was every 4 hours I would have done as is. Also, I noticed Anubis has some slight swelling on his right eye. It's not too much though. Would warm compresses ease it?

This weekend I will go to the grocery store and look for baby food jars. I've never seen turkey flavor alone though, I've only seen turkey with gravy.

Oh and he has a box right next to him but he's very random when he urinates! Luckily he's only peed on his blankets and while I have extra on hand, I wash the ones he pees on

This is what you want to buy in either turkey or chicken.

Maybe he will use the box when he feels stronger.

I think you can thaw the pedialyte overnight in the fridge, pour what you need for the day, then put the bottle back in the freezer. The day's amount of the food/pedialyte mixture will stay fresh in the refrigerator, and you heat each portion as you need it.

Yes, please continue with the warm compresses throughout the day every day while his eyes are healing. And yes, I have read everything on the thread, so I saw that about the drops every four hours.

How is his breathing today?
