Could it be possible that Anubis is purebred? The other day my father had him on his lap and was petting him, & he was amazed at how beautiful the shading of Anubis gray coat was and said that maybe he's purebred. But I don't know. Whenever I have visitors they give me a lot of compliments about Anubis and tell me he's a beautiful cat. They love the color of his coat and eyes but whenever they ask me what breed he is I never know what to say to them. What would be written on his medical chart?
Just say one of the Blues.

Probably domestic house cat. As you don't have his papers he won't called pure bred I don't think, like my whisky who, if he had papers would be a purebred siamese, old fashioned

Why don't you show him where it says show your blue's etc. You've got a blue

I did. Someone had said he may have oriental ancestry. But I'm curious to know if he's crossed or purebred.

At least it's just meowing not being pounced on from a great height then your arm being wrapped round by his jaws and your hand bunny kicked - can we swap kitties?  Please?

Anubis seems to be better behaved than a certain pure-bred pedigree Russian Blue has been lately.

When Anubis was a young string bean kitten I thought he looked quite Oriental but his face has filled out quite a bit now so I'm not so sure.  Gray cats with green eyes are naturally occuring and I guess because they are so beautiful some wise person /s decided to breed cats with this colouring together with the thick double fur so that the features would continue - without knowing if there is any pedigree genetic history in Anubis' family you can proudly call him a Maltese cat as this is a recognised name for cats who are solid blue / gray or mostly blue / gray.   That or a Blue cat, but I rather like Maltese.

I bet Anubis has charmed everyone that's met him and that you get loads of compliments on him.  With Mouse the most common comment I get when people meet him for the first time is 'He's very,  gray isn't he'.
(Unfortunately I don't have many cat lovers around me).

I googled "Russian blue" and I found this picture amongst others and this cats is almost identical to Anubis!!!!! (Gray, white patch on his chest)
Does this mean I'm allowed to call him a "Russian blue"???

MEOWED UNTIL HUMAN WOKE UP

DIDN'T NEED ANYTHING JUST BORED

JUST DON'T BOTHER ME BETWEEN 2 AND 4 WHEN I GO INTO MY DEEP SLEEP FOR THE AFTERNOON!

Many people do call their blue / grey cats RBs though techincially it is a pedigree type rather than only about fur, eye, skin colouring and also requires the fur to be all solid grey with no patches of other colour.  Anubis is one of those cats I have mentionned before who happens to be just as gorgeous (and actually even more so
) than many pedigree Russian Blue cats I have seen in the fur and in photographs: he just happens not to have a documented 5 or 6 generation family history available to tell people if his looks run in his family.   Gorgeous is gorgeous, and for sure Anubis looks like a Russian Blue with a lovely little white medalion on his chest.   More the characteristics of the European / Australian standard (nice big, upright ears) than TICA which the US use (ears set at an angle to the side).    Oh, and if you ever think about insuring Anubis - it costs more if you call him a Russian Blue.

Lallrona-
I'm new to this forum and wanted to tell you that your journey with Anubis had me captivated one night...I read practically the entire thread with my breath held and was all teary at the photos of the happy, heathy little man he has become. I am in awe of your strength and all you have sacrificed to save that precious soul. I'm once again going to be holding my breath waiting to hear that both Princess and Anubis are home safe and sound. Stay strong...it sounds like both will be in good hands. Soon this will be behind all of you and Anubis will go back to waking you up at 5 am and you'll be waking up with Princess snuggled up with you.

XOXO

Keep positive. When will they be home?
Are you going to go to work today? You should to keep your mind occupied. When will you get them back?
We're all thinking about you and worrying with you although there's no need to worry. Hugs

I just turned in my babies.
I met with his partner and was understanding of my worries.
The plan is that tomorrow they will be dropped off at 6:30 at the hospital. Tomorrow after I get out of work his partner will pick me up, take me to the hospital to get them and then give me a ride home. They will get fixed, dewormed, microchipped, and vaccinated. My heart aches because I miss my little fur balls soo much I know I'm going to cry all night, and maybe not even sleep. But I know I'm doing what's best for them. And they will be fine. She reassured me that they will be fine and says she has a lot of respect for me because she sees that I really love my babies. I kept repeating "please take care of them" lol I want this night to be over. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. I want my babies home already. [emoji]128575[/emoji]

She sounds awesome and very reassuring! That's great! I know you are sad, but they truly will be fine. It's a relief to know they will both be fixed, and you'll never have to worry about it again, and the cats won't have to be bothered by their own hormones. Try to sleep well tonight, and also try to have a productive day at work tomorrow. They will likely both be all done with surgery by the time you call on your lunch break tomorrow! And they will both be back home before you know it. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Did you ask about pain meds for Princess?

Yes that was the first thing I asked. She said that they don't give them any take-home pain medication but she will be given some sort of pain shot at the hospital.

Thank you Mardg :')

Im so glad its finally happening. I've been longing to get them fixed and felt guilty not having it done sooner when I had princess since I was only in high school and my parents were not willing to pay any vet bills. Now that I had worked so hard and saved up, it's finally happening and I don't get to pay a thing. :)
