I have seen post's here about fabric chewing being caused by a dietary deficiency. What might be the deficiency that causes this? Lovey has a serious attraction to wool and if I leave wool socks where she can find them she eats holes in them.

They call it pica and no one really knows what causes it. Some lean into the theory it is a deficiency in the diet, others claim it is a chemical imbalance, while others say it is because the animal was abandoned at an early age.

Here is one of the best websites imo that does well in explaining it:

Thanks Hissy. The info I read there really helped me to understand this better. I have noticed that when her pot of cat grass is put up to rejuvinate she goes turns to fabric more so maybe it is a fiber thing.

I would encourage you to talk to your vet about this though. Her joy at chewing wool socks can land her in some pretty serious problems if she should become blocked or obstructed in any way-
