Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and hope someone has an answer to help my Mister. He's a rescue from a horrible place where he was used as bait. His tooth problem may have come from his balance issues. He has a ton of energy even as an 8yr old~ish he plays and runs like a kitten. He's 20lb of muscle crashing around. He had to have 3/4 of his really long tail amputated due to it being skinned. He could have hit his mouth on something. I believe it's his perimolar(?); the gum has covered the tooth and has a slight red top which looks like it's fading a bit. I'll try to get a picture of it, but that will be a challenge. I've got this once feral boy to do tricks and learn what laps and love is but he still has a wildside when it comes to exams. I can't find anything that looks even close to this other than possible tooth resorption.
Thanks for any help with my Mister.

I'm sorry for all that but glad you did the rescue.  How can we help you? Do you have specific questions?

I mostly want to know what is happening to my boy. He eats like he's starved so it must not bother him too much. The vet wants all the $500 up front to take it out and I just don't have it all. They also can't get him in for a while and longer if I can't pay. I don't yet have a pic but does it sound like anything specific? And how can I help keep it from happening on his other teeth? The rest of his mouth got a near perfect from the vet. He was surprised at Misters age and having such great teeth.

Do you mean a premolar?  $500 sounds like a lot for a single tooth extraction even if its complicated, but perhaps i'm wrong.  Can you get a second opinion from another clinic?

I thought so too. They spent about 30min trying to convince me it was on the low end price range. My foster dog had to have two molars pulled after getting attacked by a large lab and everything only cost $333. The gum isn't really swollen and the redness is almost gone. It's just weird. I'm keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't develop into an abscess or something. I've just never seen this before.
