Many cats don't bury their poop.  Of my three, only one buries it.  Luckily, their poop doesn't smell too terrible.

The way I see it you have two options:

1)  When you smell it, go in and bury it yourself (just take the scooper and toss some litter over the poop - easy peasy)

or

2)  Change his diet until you come up with something that doesn't make his poop smell so bad.

This is all assuming he doesn't have any parasites in him causing an issue.

My male cat has not ever buried his poop. He is not coordinated with the digging and doesn't get it covered. Our female kitten buries all of his poop for him. Before we had her, we just buried it ourselves. I would suggest burying it or scooping it right away.

If my male cat has a poop that stink more than normal, he won't bury it. If it's a normal poop, he'll bury it..a little.

The suggestion to figure out why his poop is so stinky, and possibly change his diet, is a good one. He may never be the kind of cat who touches his poop, but if you were a cat, would you want your paws to come close to it either? [emoji]128521[/emoji]
