A feral kitten in my area has three kittens, about five weeks old, she moved two of them a few hours ago, one is still there, how long to wait before I should worry about it.....I mean I'm worried now and want to bring it in with me, but I'm waiting, hoping the mother comes back, but how long to wait?

Thanks!

Oh, my. I'm not a kitten expert so hope one comes along and FAST!!

Is the kitten at least protected from the elements? Is it in distress?

I might consider buying KMR or goats milk and kitten food.. Or putting it in a little shelter with a blanket til morning. .I'm not an expert but like you, after a few hours I would worry too. Are you able to bring it in? Does it seem sick or in distress?

Please let us know what happened to the kitten, if you can. Poor lil thing!!

If the kitten is five weeks old if you want to tame it you can take it now. From all I have read you can take feral kittens beginning at 4 weeks for best chance tame.

Poor little sweetie! Are you in an area where it is dark? Kittens are more vulnerable alone after dark. How many hours has it been since Mama cat moved the other two? Is the kitten crying or wandering around?  In a safe place where it cannot get hurt?

If it is alone in a situation where other animals could hurt it, is crying or wandering around, then I would bring it in now. If it seems ok where it is and you can keep a good eye on what is going on, I would give the Mama cat another hour or so before bringing it in. I hope the Mama cat is ok. Depending upon when the kitten last ate, it will need food soon. Such as goat's milk or kitten replacement formula (Not Hartz) if is around 5 weeks old, it should be ready to eat solids so you can mix the formula with soft canned food and make a mush, see if the kitten would lap it up.

Let us know what happens.

Can you give us an update?

I am hoping if the mom did not return shortly after you wrote this that you took the kitten to safety with you.

Do you feed this feral mama? The kittens will soon need solids too.
