Is this normal... its all new to me

My babygirl snowee and my male cat smokee just had their first babies 2 days ago. Bless my girl she had 6 [emoji]128562[/emoji][emoji]128562[/emoji][emoji]128562[/emoji].I sat up all night with her with her paws holding my wrist and she finally had 5 between 6.50am and 8.30am then had the 6th one 3 hours later??? She is bleeding slightly still and I am unsure if this is normal.... she is eating and nursing/caring fine and wandering about every so often but as I have never had a female cat before I got her I am pretty much a novice... can anyone help thanks

Getting one later is usually normal. Usually?  If it was heavy labor for the last, it wasnt good, and should be looked after by the vet.

If she had a calm pause inbetween,  and active labor for the last just some few minutes before delivery - its normal and oK.

Re bleeding afterwards.  Is it fresh blod?  How much really?   red colored watery discharges afterwards are common.   Some few spotting of blood drops may also happen.

But running blood isnt not good.

Is Smokee and Snowee very best friends?  Do Snowee wants him near?   If so, you can ltet them.   Superwise at first, but it is prob OK.

Observe, females can get pregant anew even when nursing.  Lactacing doesnt protect them as human women are somewhat.

She was fine between having 5th and 6th kittens... very relaxed until she actively started giving birth but even then was calm and dignified...

Blood is just odd smear on bedding but more like dirty blood than fresh red...

Smokee is petrified by his kittens lol.. he came in yesterday looking for Snowee and wandered to basket where she was lying with kittens... one of kittens mewed and stretched and Smokee eyes grew and he shot out the front door before sitting on doorstep looking petrified [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]was very funny to watch..

OK, so health wise I think everything is OK, and exaclty  as the regulaminations and authorites do demand.  

Yes, its common adult cats are a little afraid of small kittens.  They dont know what it is.  So, although Snowee allows him to come near, be there and watch, if he comes near next time.

Not that he will want to harm them - but being afraid of them, he may do something in sheer desperation - or sheer ignorance...

If unsure - isolate the mom and her kittens.

Your cat is beautiful!

I suggest you take your male cat to be neutered now so that there will be no more pregnancies. Believe it or not, a female cat can mate again within the first month and get pregnant again, especially with an intact male resident!

Also, please do not let her outside at all. If anything happens to her you will have six orphans to feed. And she needs to be spayed when the babies are about 8 weeks old.

In the meantime, give her lots of wet food and fresh water for nursing her babies, and make sure all six are latched, nursing, and gaining weight.

If there is a runt, you may need to supplement. Keep an eye out these first couple of days .

Thank u... she has never been outside except into garden to sit with me as her unusual colour and marking makes her a instant target.. her previous owner was her mothers owner n her mother is persian.... I am going to keep her and my male cat separate(not difficult as my male cat is more an outdoor cat n only comes home to eat n be petted)...
There is a runt of litter and its one that was born last but she is very protective of this one and seems very alert to it being slightly smaller n weaker....
She eats well and her appetite does not seem diminished at present...

If your male is mostly outside please please please have him neutered as soon as possible. By leaving him intact you are allowing him to go off and mate with any unspayed females and causing more kittens to be brought into the world. Just because you may not see it happening doesn't mean that it isn't. I'm really not trying to be rude but there are already so many cats and kittens who need homes and it is due to people not spaying and neutering their pets. Please remember that just because he isn't getting YOUR female pregnant doesn't mean he isn't getting other females pregnant.

He is being neutered at end of next week... I have to admit he wasnt done till after he mated with Snowee because I wanted them to have kittens together as she stays indoors and no other cat will ever get near her.... both cats I rescued at 8 weeks old and now they have a little family of their own...
