Dear people,

I am writing because I have a tendency to freak out and that nearly 2 year old hugo is my first cat. Over the last two weeks, I have discovered that Hugo now pees 3 times daily (one more than usual) and the third is usually a smaller clump (3/4 size the others) compared to others.

I haven't change his diet - he gets 6oz wet food spilt into 2 meals, 1/8 cup of orijen cat kitten through the day, 1-1.5 nugget of primal FD at night before I sleep. We have a fountain and a drinking bowl. It has been 33 - 36 degrees Celsius (91-96 Fahrenheit) and I keep the fan on for him while I am out .

Does your cat pee more in summer? Or is this an indication of something else. The photo below is of him last week when we were climbing stairs for exercise

To be honest, I have 3 cats sharing 3 litterboxes, so it's nearly impossible to tell how many times each cat poops and pees.

For the last few days, I've been caring for a sickly stray tomcat in the basement, with his own litterbox.  I see that he pees 3 times daily.  He has a water bowl and eats only wet food (usually with water added).  Nice large good-sized clumps.   I think what you're describing is normal.  If you start to see several small sized pee clumps, that's an indication of a urinary problem (cat straining to pee and only getting a little pee out each time - resulting in several small clumps).

He's probably drinking a lot more due to the heat. We recently had a weeks-long heatwave with temperatures in the high 30s, and Mogli was drinking noticeably more water; ditto the cats at the shelter. The litter boxes were a lot fuller than usual.
