.

My son just went to his barn to find these little babies in the bed of his unused truck that was covered. Anyone have any clue of an age?

Are their eyes open yet?

There must be a mama cat around! Are you leaving them to see if she returns? I'd put some food out for her.

My son lives in the country and his dog is a hunter and killed the momma cat unfortunately. The dog is absolutely fine with their cats inside and the ones she knows that go inside and out, but she snagged the mom and they noticed she had teats so they searched for babies because they have so many stray barn cats around and they found them and brought them in. Eyes are open and everything. Just a little afraid of humans. I have one week old kittens and they are much bigger than them.

It's hard to tell with them just hunkered down in the box.

A weight will tell me, or behavior and ability to walk or play, etc.

I can tell you they are at least 4 weeks old if they fear humans.

Okay, it's sad mama was killed, but at least you're saving the babies.

I'd need to see a front view of a baby to get a better idea of age, but I'm guessing around three weeks.

Do they have baby teeth yet? How well are they walking?

Are you putting them on the bottle with kitten formula? Or can they eat mush? Do you have them or does he?

If we could get their weights it would help also.

Sorry sarthur2 didn't realize I was talking to you. You know I have kitties! Sad story I know. My soon to be daughter in law is so upset. She is out buying stuff now for them and my son said they are fine with him except one is a little afraid of humans.

He thought I was crazy when I said weigh them with a kitchen scale but Cassie went to get one. She said she is going to try the formula and soft food. I will try to get a front picture from them as well. They are in Michigan and I'm in Indiana.

Ah, I so appreciate that you are guiding them in saving these kitties.

If their baby teeth are not in, or barely coming in, they will definitely still need bottles every 3-4 hours. They'll probably need 80-100 mL of formula per day, which is 14-17 mL per feeding every 4 hours. I can advise more specifically once I know about teeth and weights.

Was mama just killed today? These babies will be starving!

Can you get goat's milk?  Most big supermarkets including walmart carry it in the dairy department, or your son might know of a goat farm where you could get some fresh.

Three of the four are drinking the replacement milk from Cassie by a dropper. She said the other seems kinda off and she could not find a scale. Waiting to hear back about teeth as I am hearing from both my son and her and she is just trying to feed.

Ok she said they have teeny tiny little teeth right now. She is still feeding and trying to get little guy to eat. Crossing my fingers for these babies.

Ok. I'd say about 3 weeks. The one that is off is probably dehydrated.

While she feeds, your son needs to go out and buy clear pedialyte to mix the powdered KMR with or to give in between. He needs to get a 1 or 2 mL syringe from a pharmacy, and a kitten bottle.

The syringe is easier and more efficient than a dropper, but as soon as they recover they'll likely take a bottle.

She needs to make sure the baby who is kind of off gets plenty to drink. You need to impress upon her how important it is that she feed through the night.

And I don't know how long they've been without, but she may need to feed them every couple of hours right now.

She'll need to potty them by rubbing their tummies and bottoms with a warm, damp cotton ball to help them wee and poo after each feeding.

She's going to be busy. Is she able to be with them around the clock? Someone has to!

She will need to burp them after feeding.

Can she join TCS and get on the thread too?

Where in MI are they?

They are in school craft Michigan and way out in the country. Reception isn't great but I'm forwarding what I can its just very slow. She is very good with animals and her last text was they ate a lot and even the one who wasn't eating is eating a small amount. Sorry I'm passing info. Back and forth. My son works crazy hours and ten hour days. She is off a few days a week but she will make sure they are taken care of.

So weird it happened to them four weeks after I got Lilly and had kittens. Guess they know we will and can handle the situation with whatever is thrown at us.
