Hi all,

I'm in the processing of getting a Maine Coon kitten. The litter is due at the end of this upcoming spring. She'll be a pedigreed Maine Coon who I intend to show. I'm gathering supplies to show and came across these two cages. Any and all help is appreciated!

1.
I absolutely love the look of this one. I think it's adorable and would go well with my show curtains that I plan to make. I'm anticipating a female silver with white patch kitten, so I'm in love with the black and white look of this cage. However, I'm a little bit concerned about size for her as she's a Maine Coon. She'd be the only one and the cage does meet CFA recommendations. Sturdiness is another thing to consider, but I like the lightweight-ness, so if we're traveling for shows, we can get up and go without a lot of hassle. The price is cheap, which makes me a little wary. I'm a strong believer that you get the quality you pay for. I just keep coming back to it though. I love the matching litterbox too.

2.  (Cream)

This seems more sturdy and I think she might grow into this one better. I'm not as fond of the color, but I can make do. This has better reviews, but people are still concerned about sturdiness.

Any thoughts or suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know if she'll be partial to showing yet, so I don't want to make a huge investment into the cage (~300). I am willing to buy a good one though (~200-250). I'm budget-conscious, but not cheap. I'm leery about using the show cages and I want her to feel comfortable, especially since I plan to show her as a kitten.

Thank you all in advance.

The first would be okay to use in the hotel room, but I think it is to flimsy and difficult to use in the show hall. The 2nd one looks okay.
Before you buy anything check out Sturdicages. They are just a little more expensive than the second cage but are SO easy to put up and take down. They also have sales quite often. I have had my sturdy cage for about 10 years and it still going strong.

Interesting. You use your own cages in Shows, over there?  We in Fifa do always have cages belonging to the Show itself.   I suppose they desificate them in between...  What we do, is we make our own clothing  inside the cage.

Although its surely good to have a cage for transportation, and in the hotell room...

We have the option of using a cage provided by the club or using our own, provided the size requirements are met. I got my own cage about 9 years ago and I love it. Of course I don't have fancy cage curtains like some do for the metal cages, but I am not a fancy kind of person. In the car I use a large metal dog crate for each cat.
