Right let’s start this from the beginning. Around March this year a little black and white girl who we call Missy- as my husband calls her Missy moo bags lol and it stuck - showed up and moved in. At that time she was pregnant me being the soft touch I am let her and advertised that she was with us but nobody ever came for her so we took her to our vets we use for our animals and found out she was indeed very pregnant. To cut a long story short we ensured she had the right food and vet treatment she required and 3 weeks later she gave birth to 4 kittens. All healthy we ensured they and her were vet checked and had flea wormers and injections before little ones went to their new home.  Unfortunately one of the owners let her out as we were trying to keep her in to be spayed and that was the last we see of her she was not returning for food or anything and nobody had seen her well that was until 2 days ago where she has come back and very pregnant again which worries me as she only had a litter in April.

I know we could get them aborted and have her spayed now but I feel she is too far gone and I’m just not that sort of person, so we have decided to spay her when the kittens are around 6 week old to avoid this again as we have no idea how many litters she has had before but know it can’t be good for her. Even if we never see her again once the kittens are re-homed but at least I will know she won’t be having litter after litter and she has at least had some injections. Told you I was a soft touch lol. And yes I am feeding her Royal Canin dry kitten food as well as Felix kitten pouches the first thing we got when she showed back up.

These are some photos I took last night. As you see she is a gorgeous girl plus as you see I have set up the dog crate for her as well. Profile pic was taken when she was with us last time.

Anyways I'm finding it really hard to distinguish when these kittens will arrive. I think she is further along than when she moved in last time as you can clearly see them moving, there is no hair around her nipples but could this be as she only had a litter a few months ago that it has not grown back yet. And where she did only have a litter in April what complications she could run into because yes her last litter thrived and was very healthy but surely with no time to recover really this litter won't.

This litter could be fine.  She had good food and care with the last litter.  You may want to give her a small dish of KMR every day to increase her calcium.  Low calcium in nursing moms is a concern because it can be fatal to mom.  Since she's already had one litter, she could be bigger sooner since everything is already stretched out.

Thank you for taking her in and caring for her.  Having her spayed when this litter is 6 weeks old is a good plan.

thank you Handsome kitty i do still have some KMR which i got last time but did not need it

i will try her on it now and see if she likes it as last time after the first week or so of us keeping her in she decided to become very picky on what she was eating

i also have natural yogurt in the fridge to give to her as she would not touch the KMR when she was in labor so she had my unsweetened natural yogurt which she seemed to enjoy.

Her fur likely never fully grew back after she became pregnant again so soon.

The only way to ensure she does not get pregnant again this time is to make sure she is not let outside under any circumstances prior to getting spayed.

She sounds healthy and her litter should be fine.

that's what i was thinking on the fur to be honest

she is shut in our spare living room and kids are banned as they were last time the problem last time was the vet said when her milk dried up to take her in and when the kittens left us at 9 weeks old it still had not but this time i am going to insist on it being done at 6 weeks then hopefully she will be happy staying with us at least till the kittens are ready for new homes so she also has time to heal as well.

at the moment she is just acting big and uncomfortable and eating for England  sleeping a lot of the time but moving from place to place lots as she just cant seem to get comfortable.

i really do feel for her i cant imagine having 1 pregnancy after another it has to take its toll on her at the moment she is showing no signs of going into labor any time soon but saying that she didn't cry or get extremely restless last time we just noticed the waters bag popping out before it broke but she did struggle with the first kitten as he was born at a whooping 148 grams but saying that the smallest was 110 grams and needed a little help while she pushed to get him out as he was feet first to.

im not expecting this litter to be as big or could they be i am however lucky in the knowledge that a lot of people around here leave food out for the stray cats so the fact she has not come back here dose not mean she has not eaten as we all leave food outside for the strays and occasional hedgehog too.

if things do start to go wrong what sort of things to i need to keep in mind i do have all the vets numbers to hand and not afraid to use them lol

It sounds like you are fairly knowledgeable from having assisted with her delivery last go round. With vet numbers handy you should be fine.

One never knows how many kittens, what size, or which birthing position - it's really a big wait and see and hope for the best. She definitely knows the drill herself.

Vets prefer milk ducts dry because it makes the spay surgery easier and safer, but they do know how to do it earlier and can. If yours won't, find one who will.

right getting even more worried as the kittens are hardly moving when she first come back you could clearly see them dancing around in there now you can barely see them move on her last litter you could see them move right up till they were born so getting worried that they and her are ok

Have you placed your hand gently on her tummy to feel if they are moving? What I do with my pregnant cat peppa who is due any day is if I don't see her belly going crazy from them moving I will put my hand on her tummy and I gently tap or prod with my finger and I always get a little response back somtimes it's just a small like kick but somtimes it will set them off in to a full on rave in there and you can feel little feet scraping along her belly and them doing flips [emoji]128513[/emoji] I can be lay with my hand on her tum and feel them but I can't see them moving it depends what position the kittens are in x

same as we have no idea when she is due could be today or in 2 week just dont know what we do know she got away from us on the 13th june and returned 3 days ago so that a huge gap to guess from if she mated straight away she could be due or slightly overdue or she could be around 7 weeks again like when she moved in last time we just dont know

It sounds from your description of her hard belly and when she got out that she is due within a week, but like you said, if she did not mate immediately it could be 10 days to 2 weeks.

The babies get bigger and more crowded at the end and it is much more difficult to see movement. This is another indication she is close - lack of movement.

Since she's not in distress the only thing to do is feed her and wait for signs of labor - belly dropping, discharge, tummy rippling with contractions, water breaking. She's very close I suspect!

I'm the same with my foster atm we don't know when she got caught so it's just a waiting game, the vet said 10 days before she came to me she was 5 weeks that would of made her due last Tuesday, she had a scan last Sunday and they said she is ready and can go any day.. He said she will go no longer than Tuesday night ( I suspect it was the same vet who seen her both times) it's now the following Wednesday and still no kittens, she had some discharge this Saturday and some last Sunday (this is why she ended up at the vets) but iv seen none sins atall and she is just mooching round uncomfortably, she is being taken to the vets tomorrow by the lady who runs the fostering if she dosnt give birth tonight,to be checked over as they need to check there is no problem why kittens haven't arrived yet there calculations of her were clearly off I rekon by around a week? I can't imagine she will go longer than this week! I hope not anyway..

The only thing you really can know for sure is that she's around 7 weeks or later. This is the time the kittens start to move. So she can give birth tomorrow, but also 2 weeks from now.

The best thing to do is to keep her on kitten food (which she already is, very good!) and make sure she eats healthily and doesn't seem too thin or tired out. Having 2 litters right after one another doesn't have to be problematic, as it really depends on how the cat is doing herself. Some cats you can't even tell they had a litter, while others give in a lot and need months to return to their normal healthy not-too-thin self. She seems fine to me on the pictures, so I wouldn't worry too much, and just treat it as a normal pregnancy.

Another thing that would be nice to do is setting up labor places for her. She will most likely already have or soon have nestling urgencies. It would be nice for her to have a spot already ready for her so she can start getting comfortable as she is in her last semester.

And good that you are planning on spraying her sooner this time.

It seems like you have everything under control and are just a little insecure. Don't be, you are doing wonderful and helping this cat have a nice place to have her litter and a better future with the spraying.
