On Saturday the 15th of August, we had to say goodbye to our little Marcie. Marceline was honestly the loveliest cat, she loved cuddles, she was such an amazing mummy to her four kittens. She had such an amazing personality, and could be fiesty at times but I wouldn't have had her any other way. We are going to miss her so much, no words could possibly express how heartbroken we are, she was still just a baby.

Marceline had Acute Renal Failure due to poisoning from Lillies. With having access to outside there was only so much dangers we could keep her from. Originally the vets had suspected antifreeze, although this came back negative, antifreeze is extremely dangerous to cats also.

Accidents will always happen but I can't express enough how dangerous Lillies are to cats, they are extremely toxic. I'd just like to make those aware who maybe didn't know the dangers. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through seeing their pet so poorly. Its heartbreaking.

So please if you have cats refrain from buying Lillies for their safety. If you live in an area where there are a lot of outdoor cats but you might not have any yourself, please just think about not growing them in your garden.

I miss you. I love you so much Marma.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  What a beautiful kitty Marcie is; wonderful pictures of her.  I never say were because she is still there & just as beautiful as ever.  It must having been shocking to have this happen so suddenly.  If you can, ask your neighbors to remove the flowers & tell them your story so they will understand. Wishing you peace & comfort at this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope your message will spread through to others here and in your area about the dangers of lilies.

I have at times wanted to get flowers and plants for my house but with my cats I won't because of the dangers of many of them being poisonous.

She is so beautiful and I know she will be watching over you across the Rainbow Bridge. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

What a beautiful girl! I'm so sorry Marcie has passed away. It is so sad that you lost her so suddenly and in such a terrible way but you gave her a good life and I'm sure she was very happy with you. She will live on in your heart.

Thank you for the warning about lilies.  I did not realize they were so toxic.

Thank you so much for warning others about the lilies and preventing another tragedy like what you are going through. You did all you could, it was a horrible accident that in no way could have been predicted. My heart cries for what you are going through, your loss is great and the hole in your heart will take a long time to heal. You shared a wonderful love with her, and she knew that, she will be forever remembered and will live on in your precious memories and in your heart.Bless you both and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. RIP sweet Marcie, you will never be forgotten!

Marcie was beautiful - those calico cats are always so special. I'm very sorry for your loss. It's horrible to think that a common plant like that can be so deadly. RIP, Marcie. :rbheart:

I'm so sorry. Marcie was a cutie. I didn't know that lillies could be dangerous for cats (still, they are not common where I live, because the weather is very dry). This is a warning for us all, to check which plants can be dangerous for our pets.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. It really does mean the world. We miss her beyond words. Marcie was such an amazing cat.

I'm so proud of how amazing a mother she was. Her two boys that we kept are so much like their mummy, they keep me smiling.

So sorry for your loss. She's very cute. She had beautiful babies.

I was at a friend's house for Easter and her sister-in-law brought in a Easter Lilly. I said i think it's poisonous  so we looked it up online and it was. Pete was trying to eat it and i grabbed it and put it at your table so he couldn't get it. Then i gave it to a neighbor who doesn't have cats because i had cats. I just lost Geet's to chronic renal failure. He was 19 1/2 years
