Oh! And we went to the vet today because his belly is still very swollen and his breathing has been rapid and short, they switched him from clavamox to doxycycline and they gave me a probiotic for him. He gave me a scare early this morning, he tends to sleep pretty soundly through most of the night but he woke up about 5-6 am today hacking and wheezing. Vet says its related to the URI but he really had me worried. No fever and he eats well now, grazes at the dry food all day, drinks all of his water. Definitely still has "parasite belly" so I'm bringing a fecal sample on Tuesday when I drop Luna off for her spay.
He seems fine, no distress, he plays, eats, sleeps, doesn't appear to have any issues but he's still breathing at about 60 resp/min
I can't help but worry about my little babe :(
On the plus side, he's up to 2.25 lbs from 2.05 in 6 days!

I haven't had great success with the canned version myself, just the dry.

Great that he is putting on some weight!

Alright. Update on baby Theo. Still on the doxy and I've continued to feed him the blue buffalo kitten dry food because it's what I have, but he likes the adult cats wet food so I've given him little servings of it and I can successfully hide his meds in it. Yesterday I came home from work and his abdominal distention as finally gone down, but not without cost. He seems to be having an anal leakage problem now. Very wet poop is always around his anus, but he doesn't have diarrhea. It smells horrible and he is leaving little poo stains everywhere. Stool sample tested negative for worms. Any idea what is up with him?? Maybe his food changes have caused this? What can I do to make it stop? He smells like a farm

Adding the canned is enough to cause this and should clear up soon enough, or not, it's a pain if he is leaving butt prints, I know!

Not only that, he smells horrendous and it's been a full 24 hours of damp skin, it's only a matter of time before it gets very irritated if it's not already. Is there any non toxic diaper rash type cream or something that can go on there? A barrier ointment?

Loose stool can be a side effect of the antibiotic he's on
.  Are you by chance giving him a probiotic while he's on the antibiotic?  Sounds counter intuitive, but always a good idea to give them, just not within a couple of hours of each other.  Since he's just a baby, maybe 1/4 capsule twice a day if you can, between giving him his doxy?  We give our cats this one:
I'm not familiar with anything to use on his bottom, sorry.  Other than to just wipe it clean with a damp paper towel, or cat wipes.  Maybe Catwoman will know

The vet gave me some proviable paste and capsules, I put the paste on his nose so that he'll lick it off and I sprinkle the contents of the capsule into his dry food when I leave for the day, but I don't think he's getting enough

Since he's eating some wet food (albeit adult), can you simply mix the contents of the capsule into a little bit of wet food? That way you'll know he gets it.  Or is the timing wrong withhis antibiotics and when you're home to administer all of it?

He is  SUCH a cutie

I'm at work for the day so I want to make sure he gets the probiotics between the doxy since I'm not there to administer it, I gave him some of the paste last night and he seems to be firming up a bit
