Twice now i have found a formed stool with a puddle of soft poop. Both dark in color. No change in food. No other episodes. I did give them some cat lax the other night. I will have to be on poop patrol to see which cat it is and if it continues. Any ideas t why they would have both in the same bowl movement?

Hi

We need more info.

- Is this one cat or two cats? Unclear?

- How old is the cat?

- How long have you had the cats?

- Contact with other cats?

-- You gave then a laxative before  the stool was soft?  If yes, then that's an obvious explanation.  Are the stools now well formed again? If yes, then i'd ignore but observe.

As far as i know its one cat. i found it twice, once on each day.  cats are 4 years old, one is 2 and the mom is 5.  The cats since birth. Mom was pg of course.  We have 7 all indoors.  I gave them some cat lax the other day,  So could that cause it?  Both BM's had a formed stool with a pudding like stool with it.  havent found any since.

If you just gave them a cat laxative, then I think it could be the cause of the soft poop. Watch it for a couple more days. It should be re-forming to a normal consistancy.

A Laxative is a stool softener so if you give a cat a stool softener and their stool becomes soft.....yes that could be the cause. :-)
