My 12 and 1/2 year old, 6.5ish pound, female cat has recently started foaming at the mouth. It's not constant, she will just randomly come walking through the room with foam hanging from her mouth and dripping on the floor. She usually will just shake her head and or push it out of her mouth. She is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccinations. She is going through what we compare to a "heat" cycle (even though she is spayed) where she will go into small rooms and howl, run around the house like crazy (more often than she usually does), and will be more aggressive/have less patience with our 3 and 1/2 year old neutered male cat. We were thinking it could be related to that, but she has never done this this often before.
I have been watching her weight because while she is not underweight (she's just tiny) she is very close to it. She gained a little weight a couple months ago (yay!!) and has remained about the same since. We have her on all natural grain free food, and the only table scraps she gets are the ones she steals. She is eating and drinking pretty normally as far as I can tell. She has had a kind of sensitive digestive system for a while, but she doesn't usually foam at the mouth (she just vomits her food if she eats too fast, is stressed, but it usually isn't just foam.
Could it just be her age catching up with her? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That's the first thing I was thinking as well. Sounds like a reaction from getting into something. I think if it were a dental issue, it would only be drool, no foaming. I would take her in & have her tested, to see if they find any trace of anything she may have ingested. Especially because she is so tiny, could be dangerous. Please take her to your vet asap. Better to be on The safe side. :)

Is this a long haired cat? I had a kitty once that would foam a little at the mouth when he had a bad hairball to get up.
