Hello from BC!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and new to cat ownership (almost!). I am currently approved to adopt 9-10 week old "Ghost", an all black male. I already have a 6.5 year old GSD mix who is my world and has been an only child until now. "Ghost" is having some issues as his food was switched around too many times so he doesn't quite have consistent solid stools yet. He was neutered on Friday, so they are just holding him a little longer to go to the vet and make sure he gains a bit of weight and has solidity. Anyways, I met Ghost at the pet store (small boutique-type) of all places. We have been thinking of getting a cat for a while, but hadn't seriously started looking. There were 4 kittens, 2 black and white, one beautiful tabby and him. I was instantly drawn to him. He's bold, adventurous, cuddly, affectionate and is good with dogs!

I'm looking to change his name, but I'm horrible at thinking of names! So far I have Jet, Rocket, Cedar, Bram, Link... any other suggestions?

you know when it came to naming my two kittens i named one after my favorite band at the time, but the second took a little longer. he was a playful yet shy kitten and a little clumsy. kind of reminded me of bambi and thumper on the ice. for some reason, ralph, was what came to me. he just "looked like a ralph". so when you get ghost home, and you see more of how he interacts, i think his name will make itself known

August 17th, today, is Black Cat Appreciation day. Happy Black Cat Appreciation day to you and your kitty!! Perfect timing too!

I love Jet. But maybe once you get him home, you can see which names fit best based on personality!

Welcome! "Ghost" is a beautiful boy. Black cats are wonderful - I've had 4 in my life and am currently owned by Paul, a huge lovable boy. You'll have fun renaming him. I like all the names suggested but will toss out the name Max for consideration.

Your dog is a real cutie too - that's a great picture of the two of you. I love a big dog!

Ralph was my beloved stuffed dog growing up actually. Onyx is out, only because I know a human named Onyx! Max is a really good name too, I was thinking about it yesterday. I'm very excited for my second pet of my own, although I have fostered puppies and kittens before. 

Thank you Margd about the compliment! That dog is my best friend, I've known her since she was 2 weeks old and we've been together ever since (she was in a foster home until 8 weeks though), she's about 55lbs of love.
