Im megan, and I recently (this past friday) adopted an adorable 11week old Balinese kitty named Sophie.

The night before we picked her up I couldnt go to sleep, 2years ago I left my sweet Milo with my parents. He ended up running away while I was on vacation and never came back :(. It just felt like I was replacing him and I couldnt control my guilt for not being there and feeling like im replacing him. My husband ended up calming me down. Seems I still miss little Milo.

Well the next day came and we picked up Sophie, when I saw her I knew she would be joining our little family. She is just so lovable!

She cried the entire hour drive back home which was difficult for me being emotional and all, but when we arrived

I placed her in a small room with all the necessities... she didnt stay put, and immediately started exploring.

Today she has been running all over our apartment, tail sticking straight up :p.

Needless to say I think she acclimated quickly.

I have found that she is on the thinner side though, compared to her littermates. I tried weighing her but she doesnt like to stay still for too long unless its nap time.

Is it strange that she did not like the food we were given when she was adopted? My husband bought a different brand  and type of meat today and she ate much more compared to the days before.

*phew*

Welcome Sophie!  You're a pretty girl!  I hope to see more pictures soon.

She might have been too  excited to eat, which is why she rejected her normal diet.  It's also possible she didn't like her normal diet to begin with and to her happiness, discovered you two were soft touches to her suggestion that she wants better!  lol

Welcome to TCS! Sophie is an adorable little girl and I'm so glad she fit in right away. I also had a cat named Milo although my Milo died from cancer. After his death, I was so destroyed that the only way I could cope was to adopt 8 year old Polly who was eight years old and in danger of being euthanized at a kill shelter. By saving her life, I honored Milo. You have done the same thing in adopting your Sophie. She really is a doll.

It may be that she didn't like her original food where she was and that's why she's so thin. What good news that she is chowing down the new. She is obviously very happy to be with you!

What a cutester! She's beautiful, and I'll bet she's gonna love that little squirrel buddy you've given her :D

It's not strange if she didn't like the food she was originally eating from wherever you adopted her; so glad she is eating more now!

Hello
and welcome to this wonderful site!  Sophie is so adorable, I hope I see a lot of her.
Let us know how her eating is going.  It sounds like she is settling in and enjoying her new food!  I am glad she found such a good home!
I am sorry about your loss of Milo, I think he would be glad that Sophie has found such a loving home, but I know it is very difficult.  Best wishes and welcome again from Marianne and Speedy.

Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome!

It's good to be a part of this community, besides my husband no one understood how I felt about Milo.
He wasn't just a cat, he was my furbaby.

Sophie is doing great today, she has been eating much more, even trying to paw at my food when she's done with hers.
Her energy levels are through the roof as well, hyper energetic! I mean zipping up and down the hallway! Can't help but laugh with relief and how cute she looks.

I took this picture of her shortly after trying to steal my lunch

Aaaawwww..................she is so beautiful.  I love when cats are kittens and zip from one place to another.  They are tiny, but full of energy!  I'm gld Sophie is doing so well!

She is so cute!

Advice: while she is young, get her used to being combed/brushed. :)
Do this during her calm/sleepy times, as I have found that trying to comb a kitten when it is playful just leads to the kitten biting at the comb.
