Hi, this is my first time posting here so i'm sorry if I'm not using the tread the right way.

My cat was acting completely normal and she was standing on her back legs with her front paws up on my knee while I was just petting her head, then all of a sudden she started making this weird face, like her eyes were half closed and she wasn't responding when I called her name so I picked up and put her on my lap and suddenly she raised her front right paw above her head and started going limp, like she just started curling in on herself on the same side of the paw she had raised and started falling over, I laid her down on my floor and she just laid there and didn't move she wouldn't respond when I called her and she couldn't stand up, I tried to get her to stand by lifting her up but she just couldn't stay up, less than a minuet later she was back up again but acting kind of skittish, she hid under the coffee table when I tried to pick her up and then I noticed that she was limping on her back left leg. That was a little less than an hour ago, she seems fine now and was even walking on her leg that she was previously limping on, although it might just be my imagination but it kind of looks like she's still walking a little move carefully on it. I've never seen either of my cats do this before so it really scared me. Both of them have hurt their paws before and have limped a little but I've never seen them go limp like that and just be unresponsive. Like I said, she's seems fine now, she's actually on my lap, purring like normal now but it still really scared me and really want to know what happened in case it's something serious.

I would take her to the vet ASAP. I'm not sure what these symptoms mean exactly but any sort of sudden paralysis or limpness in legs is serious.

Something similar happened to my old Wesley when he was 19. He completely recovered within minutes but I still took him to the vet who suspected a pulled muscle. I didn't believe this but he seemed okay so didn't worry until two weeks later when it happened again. This time he did not recover and I had a different vet come to my home who said he probably had had a stroke. He really had no quality of life at that point so she helped him go over the bridge. I still wonder if I'd only taken him for a second opinion after the first time if he could have been treated and saved. I tell you this not to scare you but only to urge you to take your kitty to the vet. My Wesley was 19 and had lived a good long life, plus he had other health issues which might have influenced things - your kitty might be a completely different story and it might not happen again, still a visit to the vet is called for. I wish you the best in figuring this out.

I would take him to a Vet--an Emergency one. It sounds to me as if he may have had a stroke!! a minor one, but you want his heart and Blood pressure checked right now...

Do not mean to scare you, but I think it is something you should do....

hi, actually since I posted this, it happened two more times, once about 4 hours after the first time and then again about 12 hours after that. The third time seemed to last longer though and when she tried to walk she seemed to have balance issues and kept falling over. We took her to see a vet but unfortunately he couldn't tell what was wrong with her. He suggested if it happens again we should try to record it so he can get a better idea of what's wrong. I've done some looking around online to see if other people have had this happen to their cats and now I have a feeling what happened to her may have been a mild seizure, I found a video on youtube of someones cat having what the person said was a seizure, and it looked exactly like what happened to my cat complete with going stiff, laying down and having balance issues and falling over. However the last time it happened was 2 days ago and since then it hasn't happened again but I've been keeping a close eye on her. So right now, I'm just watching her and making sure she's ok. I can't really say much else on it right now though. :/

Oh, so scary!!!

I am sure you are keeping a good watch over her.

In case this happens again, hopefully not,; Did your Vet give you any advise besides taking a video?  AS if rushing her to a ER Vet immediately? I am mentioning it because there could be certain tests and observations made at that time to rule out  if if it is a seizure or something else...

Please keep us updated...
