My pregnant cat started having contractions around 3 in the morning & its 5 and she still hasn't had her first kitten.. I called a vet to ask him some questions but he just just told me to leave her alone bt I'm worried because she had a tail like thing sticking out of her bt it won't fully come out & sometimes it goes back in... while I was typing this she jumped up onto the bed & went to lay beside my sisters.. I just wanna know that she's okay.. this is my first time dealing with a pregnant cat & its her first litter..

First litter or not, feline pregnancy is easy enough that the queen doesn't necessarily need any outside help.

You can help, and you can make things easier on the mother and the babies, but worrying about it is counterproductive, not least because your cat can pick up on your stress and become stressed herself.

If her water has already broken, the tail like thing you describe could very well be a tail. the kittens can come out head or rear first quite easily.

Another forum goer just went through this, the thread has good advice:

EDIT: and I just noticed the post was made 3.5 hours ago, you're probably quite busy at this point, nevertheless feel free to ask for advice.

If she has a breech baby and it will not come out you will need to get her to a vet.

Please update!

Well she finally got it out after a long time & she's had her second kitten, the second one is doing nicely but my queen still isn't producing milk.. its been awhile since the second was born, I'm almost positive she still has more, so I'm wondering if I should go get KRM & a bottle to feed the baby because it just keeps squealing & Katana seems to get a bit distressed since she has no idea what to do when the baby gets loud other than that she seems fine

By all means get KMR and a 1 or 2 mL syringe. In the meantime the 2 babies need to suckle her nipples to help the milk to come in. Please put them to her nipples.

The first baby didn't make it.. it was stuck in her for too long :( so she only has one & I've tried to put the kitten to several nipples but it just doesn't latch on & it keeps crying... I will get my dad to run to the store to go get some KMR! Thank you for the help I really appreciate it

Kmr, or if he doesnt find a good kmr, so goat milk is OK to use, its even good.

Moms milk will hopefully come in with time.  She is perhaps even not really done as yet...  It delays too the milk....  Good you try to stimulate her nipples, and rub the tummy, it helps the labor work to continue.

PetAg and Royal Canin make a good KMR. No Hartz! Syringe will be at a pharmacy.

Yes, you should give the baby 1 mL every hour to start until mom begins to nurse.

Feeding is tummy down, head up, 1-2 drops in the side of the mouth, let the baby swallow and breathe and then go again.

Let us know how it goes!

A healthy kitten manage to be some time without, but but but... If the kittens isnt that strong, we dont want to wait...

Be careful with this syringe, so it dont happen to get the fluid in lungs...   If a kitten is weak, OR used to mom, it will usually not manage bottle.  Syringe is easier in many situation.  Although you must be careful yes.

So I got the KRM & made some for the kitten, my dad wasn't able to get a syringe so he got a bottle & I was able to get the kitten to suckle on it for a few mins and then Katana came up & was like 'give me my baby' lol & A bit later on it looked like the kitten had latched on to a nipple but it didn't stay on for very long.. we are still waiting for her to finish giving birth..

That usually for the kitten when they start to ween.  It thins the wet food and make it easier for them to eat.  The mom can lap some for a dish.  Be careful, too much can give her the runs. just a few tablespoons a day is good.

Is the baby latched and nursing well? Or not?

Is the mom finished birthing?
