Reading (especially since I bought an e-reader) and gardening.  And playing with my furball, Ruby.
it looks like most of us enjoy reading to relax, or as a leisure time activity.

e-readers are wonderful! i love them partly because i tend to accumulate books, and quite a few years ago i decided to reduce 'things' and instead leave more open space in our home. i gave away almost all of my books then, and downloaded the free kindle app onto my computer. i do have a kindle e-reader now, which i rarely use -- i prefer to read on my computer. but i'm sure i'll be using it much more often when the catio is set up for my cats -- i'll be able to sit out there with them and read with my e-reader.

I like doing crafts, mostly knitting or crochet. Right now, while I'm surfing the Internet, I'm working with a small loom, making squares for my art class (we're working on a group project involving fabrics).

I like reading as well, watching movies (while I knit...), cooking, taking photographs...

I also like learning languages.
how interesting -- working with a loom! i've never worked on a loom, but i do find them fascinating.

It depends on how I am. I always used to find yoga or walking (or even ironing) great, but the first two are much more of a struggle now (I've been banned from ironing since I broke the iron by repeatedly dropping it whilst ironing). Horse riding - not so much. My little madam demands FULL concentration

More sure fire ways these days are cuddling the animals, listening to music, chanting/meditating, colouring (thank you Pam
), reading, watching TV. Crafting is a double edged sword - I used to find it relaxing, but it's far less so as I've become more perfectionist with it
i own an iron, but have actually never used it. this is because all the clothes i own have been chosen specifically because they do not need ironing, and so that all their colors/fabrics are compatible for machine washing in cold water together. now i do own white clothes, but those would be t-shirts and some of my socks which i only wear when working outdoors. all the t-shirts and socks i wear outdoors are used only for working outdoors, because they're guaranteed to have permanent ground-in dirt and grass stains on them.

i agree totally that cuddling animals is very relaxing!

I love reading. I read 3 books this weekend. Also enjoy doing puzzles, and snuggling with the furkids just being lazy ;) .

Read, listen to music, create art, online games, etc.

Indoor activities. Not an outdoor person at all.
music can be so relaxing! i prefer music that is 'upbeat', with 'happy' lyrics to the songs. in fact, when i go shopping i'll leave music on for snick and jaspurr. i think the familiar music can be soothing for them while i'm away for several hours.

The only thing I do to relax is sit down and watch TV during my kids afternoon nap time. Sometimes I browse on the computer instead but usually try to get caught up on shows I've missed.
I know what you mean, sometimes if you are super busy, like you are with the kids, TV can be just the thing to recharge yourself and refresh.  Sometimes if I get a laugh on TV
, it relaxes my whole body.
and I am in a better mood after.
>>(maybe not this better)!

Post on TCS, watch video's on Netflix, love on Chula and Paul, read and comment on news sites, read, listen to music, work out, garden and photography.
yes, i find it very relaxing and always enjoyable reading and posting at TCS!

i've seen some pretty 'strong' comments posted on some news sites, particularly on articles/news stories related to politics. it seems like most people have strong opinions on political related news, and at times political related topics can bring out the worst in some people. i find it amusing (as well as annoying) when someone posts a comment with nothing more than a 'cut down' or insult, usually after someone else has replied to their previous comment with corrections to or citing facts that prove their previous comment's assertions were not quite right/incorrect. now, i don't read many news articles -- only the ones that the headlines catch my interest.

Read, watch TV and I enjoy eating out.
has the final episode of The Closer aired yet there? after The Closer series finished, a related show/spin-off began, Major Crimes. Major Crimes is still running/making new episodes, and i think it's a good show. many of the same characters that were in The Closer are in Major Crimes.

oh, what i'd give to go out to eat and have a really good pizza!

I have too much work and not enough relaxing and I am on high speed
most of the time between the two jobs, BUT........

I love TCS

I collect antique postcards on ebay,

I love old movies from the 30's and 40's,

AND the best part of my day is any of the time I spend with Speedy
and going for our walk on the harness.

Things I would love to do to relax someday in addition to above...............

perennial gardens

sewing

getting to the beach A LOT

traveling (it has been more than 15 years since I have been able to travel on a vacation because I took care of my Dad 10 years(my best ten years in life) and since my Dad passed away, I have not been able to afford it.

volunteering with cats.

This is a great question of the day.  I am enjoying the varied responses.
Hello to all!
oh! i love old movies too! those really old movies are the best, imo.

when i dug and then planted my flower gardens, i chose perennials because i didn't want to do planting (seeds or transplanting of young plants) every year on a large scale. even the flowering plants that i started from seeds are perennials. i've been playing with the idea of planting one or two of these apple cocktail trees (http://www.marthassecrets.com/tropical/plant/five_in_one_apple_tree_grafted) as well as some "Top Hat" blueberry bushes -- these are very short/small bushes that produce a full sized harvest of blueberries.

I usually either take a walk or watch TV.  I have been watching more TV lately.  It seems as though the reality shows are finally beginning to thin out a bit and more dramas are being aired.  Those darned reality shows have lasted a lot longer than I thought they would.

i was watching a world clock website, to make sure it had turned into august 18th in Tel Aviv, which it is now! so it really is your birthday there, though it's still august 17th here.

this is really great news! i certainly hope the reality shows become a thing of the past.

i'm thinking i'll start watching tv more after the fall really sets in, and i'm using my wood stove again.

Yes I hope reality shows go away too....especially the kardashians. I'm guilty of watching teen mom though.
