My poor Libby/Dibba Day (nickname lol) has been suffering from stomatitis since she was 6 months old! She is not even two years old yet. The vet I have taken her to has been doing anti-inflammatory shots and antibiotics for a while now, but they just aren't doing the trick anymore.

I am taking here there again this morning for the temporary relief, as it will still be a couple of more weeks before I have the funds I need set aside for her exams, tests, and treatment.

It's going to be upwards towards $1,000 if a full mouth extraction is needed, which I am almost 100% sure given the severity and how long we have tried other alternatives and when I get the ball rolling, I want it ROLLING...I don't want it having to be halted because of payment issues. When I take her to the more hands on, thorough vet, I want to be able to tell them to do whatever they have to, and money not play a factor...so we are going mid-September and I cannot wait! Whatever will make my baby happy again, and not just for a couple of weeks at a time. Nothing worse than seeing your baby meow and get excited for food, only to run away and meow within seconds of you putting it down, because her mouth has began to hurt her again.

Please say a little kitty prayer for her and send any advice my way!

Are you familiar with the clinic in Dallas that has some sort of Syrup that they use (and work with Vet's all over the country) to help Stomatitis?   If not, you might check into it before doing the extractions?  I'm not honestly sure how it works because I've not had this issue in our household, but here is a thread (that leads to other thread) on the topic:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/282669/dallas-cocktail-full-mouth-extraction

Thank you everyone! We were able to get a hold of Care Credit, so she is going in the morning to a more specialized vet that I love, to see what the best plan is for her! I've been taking her to a low cost vet, and their regimen for her just isn't working anymore and I do not like how uncaring they seem with her case. They remind me more of a vet mill...tons of people sitting there waiting in line before the doors open and then they are in and out so fast with quick fixes.

I will keep everyone updated, just say a little kitty prayer for her! I trust this vet 100% and am so glad I am finally able to get the ball rolling on this, because she is SO hungry, but it hurts her so bad to eat. I have been able to entice her with some really finely shredded chicken and that has been holding her over and she does lick at wet food (pate kind) but runs away from it really quick. I know this vet will do all they can to get her on a road to recovery, no matter what it is! She is mama's baby girl! It kills me to see her going through this at such a young age. Not even two yet.

Anyone who's baby is suffering from stomatitis, please ask your vet about LASER THERAPY. It is not surgery, it is a therapy with a beam of light. I was very skeptical myself. I had always heard the only way to most likely control this was through full mouth extraction.

After thoroughly inspecting her mouth, she has 5 ulcers on one side of her mouth, 2 on the other, as well as nearly completely inflamed gums surrounding the teeth.

They ensured me they wanted to try this first and have had a pretty high success rate with it and want the extractions to be the resort after this, if it fails. It takes about 15 minutes each visit. She told me she had many cats go home and eat the same day and I was like...yeah right! in my head...they came back with her and told me she fell asleep in the blanket while they were doing it because of how good the warmth felt on her gums. My poor baby!

Now, here's the kicker!

...I am not kidding you at all when I say my baby that went 4 days without eating much of anything at all because of the pain, ATE AS SOON AS SHE GOT HOME! In fact, she has eaten seconds during all of her meals today! I was so shocked. She has two more sessions this week and after that, it should only be once a month! She is also on L-Lysine twice a day indefinitely as well and I am so glad she likes the taste of the gel.

This laser therapy is already a life saver and I am so shocked by the results after one use.

WOW!  That's really exciting.  I never heard of doing Laser Therapy for stomatitis. Knew they were doing it for arthritis.  Who'd have thought?

GREAT update
I'm so glad this worked for her rather than having to have her teeth removed.  Instant relief
