A little bit every now and then is OK but I wouldn't make it a regular thing since they are lactose intolerant. Usually the only people food I give them is plain cooked meat when I have dinner or I cook some plain to use as a topper for their regular meals. Pure Bites freeze dried chicken treats are great and most cats love them. They are pricey though. I buy the big bag for dogs through Amazon's subscribe and save. The treats are exactly the same just bigger but they break easily.
It was just a one time thing kind of spur of the moment, but thanks for the information.

I wasn't sure about Sheba as it tends to get a bad wrap about it, but when I saw the preselected portions that just break apart I was like why not. Open each portion, dump in bowl, break up the pate and done, plus it was .70 for each pkg of 2 so .35 a serving which I figured wasn't so bad.
Yeah , it is very affordable .  As long as your cat likes it that is all that matters ..

Yep exactly. With Tangerine and Mango I must have gone through 10 different brands and 5 or 6 flavors per brand and then once I found one I thought they liked and two or three flavors they liked, about a week later they stopped eating it all together. So I found a grain free dry food they like so that's what their eating.

Same here , my cats are super picky ..  Right now they are doing really well .. As long as I  have Purina One Smartblend kibble to sprinkle on top they have so far eaten every wet food I have given them ..

Well day two on the Sheba wet food and once again Butterscotch pretty much finished her breakfast portion.

Are you still giving her some dry food? The portions in these Sheba mini bites really aren't high enough in calories to be her only food. I'm curious how she would take to a better dry.

She gets the portions at breakfast and dinner and has dry food she can have all day long. Once she gets through her spaying recovery and gets more and more acclimated I plan on changing her over to a grain free dry food. I was told by my vets to wait to start the dry food change over until she is completely healed from her spaying and gets more acclimated to her new surroundings. Trust me in about a week or so I will be starting the transition from the Friskies to a much better grain free dry food that my other two kittens/cats (9 month olds) and have thrived on as I hate giving it to her.

That's great! It sounds like she's not afraid to try new foods, so possibly the switch to grain free dry will go fairly easily. Let's hope!

I hope so. I will keep her on Friskies for another week to 10 days and then start the gradual transition from Friskies dry to grain free with wet food in the morning and evening as a supplement.

Wet food update

I just wanted to let you know that Butterscotch has been on the Sheba portions for breakfast and dinner for the last four days and she gives it a
five kitten rating. I think it was smart to go with a chicken and a salmon that way she's not getting the same flavor over and over. She's still eating her Friskies dry food she's use to probably 3 or 4 times a day from what I can tell and hear usually late morning, early afternoon, early evening and sometime during the night. As far as the wet food causing any stomach issues since it's new to her, nothing that I can tell. When I clean out her litter box, the waste looks normal and no diarrhea or anything like that and she seems to be going a couple times a day.

How do you keep tangerine and mango out of the friskies dry food?  are the cats separated while butterscotch heals?

Yep. Tangerine and Mango are downstairs and Butterscotch is upstairs in my room.

Cool.  That would suck if they decided they like junk food better than the grain free.  My cat is real finiky too and we went through tons of stuff before finding something she would eat/can tolerate.  About the time we get settled on one food, she decides she doesn't like it anymore.  So have your resident cats and butterscotch met yet?  How do they get along?

When the adoption person came over last Thursday for me to meet Butterscotch to see if she was a good fit, she stayed a couple hours doing a introduction with Tangerine, Mango and Butterscotch. They walked around each other, but neither group really reacted much to the other or seemed to really care that the other was there. Once Butterscotch is done healing from her spaying I'm going to start letting her our of my bedroom and hanging out upstairs and then I will bring her downstairs and start doing introductions like the lady showed me. Since their 9 months old and Butterscotch is 2 years old I'm sure there will be a few issues just due to age difference, however I don't think it will be much more than hissing.

Well I just got back from Walmart and decided since it was on sale to get the 24 x 3 oz box of Sheba in the cut form in gravy that has 8 chicken, 8 salmon and 8 tuna in the box. Even though she had 3 oz at 5 pm and has been munching on the dry food as well, I gave her a 3 oz can of chicken to see is she liked the cut version just as well as the pate. Getting the cut version is easier on me because all I have to do is open the can and dump it in instead of cutting up the pate. She finished 90% of the bowl so that's pretty good.
