Anyone have good experiences with this? My friend's cat has had chronic diarrhea for months and the woman at the pet nutrition store recommended the grain free Holistic Select pet food as it has digestive enzymes and high fiber to help with digestion. Has anyone tried it for kitties with GI issues?

I'm sorry you haven't had any helpful responses yet Jezhab. It looks as if lots of people have read your post, but haven't got anything to say about this food. I've never used it either, so I can't give you any advice.

Did your friend start feeding her cat this food? Maybe you could come back and let us know what the results were.

Hey there!

I have never used the Holistic Select food myself, but I can say you have to be careful with some of the Grain Free foods.

Now, I don't mean to say there is anything wrong with Grain Free - my cat eats a brand that is Grain Free also!

It's more that if a cat has a sensitive system, some grain free foods can actually be too rich for them. That being said, sometimes they can help.

Has the diarrhea been addressed by a Veterinarian? Because there are many reasons that chronic diarrhea can occur that a simple food change or pro-biotic enzymes can't always help!

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) can be one of them which usually means the pet has an allergy to certain proteins (or even grains!) and sometimes need to be placed on a special prescription diet.

Things like giardia and coccida (intestinal parasites) can also be a factor.

As far as the Holistic Select goes: A lot of clients at my work use it and are happy with it for their pets! I think it's a fine brand! But, I would consult a Veterinarian if your friend hasn't already at this point. Especially if you try the food and it does not help!

(A side note: Your friend can try adding a little bit of canned pumpkin the kitty's food to see if this helps firm the stools at all!)
