So, I don't have the money for any pets currently but I try and take care of the multitude of strays in the neighborhood as I can. About  a day ago, a 3-4 month old kitten that I often feed and bathe was in the house. I left him alone for a few minutes (which has never been a problem before), when I came back...he was missing. During this time, my girlfriend came home...so after about an hour of looking we assumed that he snuck out when she came in. He's a great sneaker and does this constantly. After I hadn't seen him for a day, I became convinced that he was in the house still and mounted another search. Good thing that I did too, because I ended up finding out that he had somehow gotten inside of the mattress in a guest room. I have no idea HOW he got inside, I actually had to cut open the mattress to get him out. He was acting quite scared obviously, but when his behavior didn't change after a few hours I became worried. So, this is what is happening...he is totally lethargic. Just lying around all day. I can't get him to eat but he seems to be getting up to get water when he feels like it. Right after it happened, he would cry if left alone. He still cries from time to time but is fine being left alone now most of the time. He is walking and jumping fine (when he gets up to get water and jumps back up onto the couch). As far as paws and legs go, nothing seems to hurt him. He gets around fine on the rare occasion he gets up. He doesn't SEEM to have a fever but I have no way of actually checking. His belly is soft and touching around causes no pain. He peed soon after I got him out but hasn't since.  Really...the only odd behavior is his lethargy, not eating and the occasional cry when left alone. We don't seem to have a 24 hour vet here so I can't do anything tonight. I have no money to take him to the vet anyway, but I am going to see if I can borrow some money. Just wanted to get some opinions so I could possibly calm down a bit. Thanks!

Well, how does he seem today?  I wonder if maybe he ate some of the mattress filler and just didn't feel well because of it.  Has he thrown up at all, or pooped an unusually large amount?  Can you figure out how he got into the mattress and look around in there to see if there appear to be some missing.

OR, he may simply be dehydrated if he was in there for over 24 hours, poor thing View media item 287979
