My cat is currently on 5 mg of prednisilone twice a day for severe asthma. We are going to keep her on this dose for a few more weeks so that it is completely under control than she will be switched to inhaled flovent.

My vet already gave me the script which is for 110 mcg, but I am reading that is not enough for a cat with severe asthma and she would need at least 220 mcg.

I was wodering what everyone's experience has been with flovent dosing and if 110 mcg would be too low. I don't want to get her in a good place only to have her retrogress.

I suggest calling the vet and ask why the 110 mcg dose was prescribed instead of the 220 mcg. The vet may just want to start a low dose now and slowly increase as needed.

After thinking about it, my guess is that we will be lowering the prednisilone dose all the while increasing the flovent. I will ask her on our next appt. Since she won't be starting on the flovent until then.
