Hello hello!

What do you like on your Hot Dog?

I am pretty standard - mustard and ketchup!  But on the odd occasion, I enjoy bacon and melted cheese on top. Just on occasion, after all I have to protect the arteries
 but mighty tasty.

Brown mustard and a wee bit of sauerkraut.  I can dispense with the 'kraut but the brown mustard has to be on it.  No other kind.  Just not the same.

More often than not  nothing. Occasionally onions and jalapenos. I like sauerkraut but I eat it on the side and not on the hot dog itself. I have been known to put horseradish on one too sometimes. It's good believe it or not. I love the spiciness of it. I'm not a big fan of mustard except the hot mustard that Chinese restaurants serve (NOT the stuff they give out in the packets. The fresh stuff) and I hate ketchup. I think it ruins anything it touches.

A basic hotdog I have has mayo, mustard and ketchup.

If I want to go all out I will add chili, onion and sauerkraut.

My DH used to put mayo on them too- and ketchup. I'd never seen anyone use mayo on one before but he liked it.

I do like chili with them also- but on the side. Weird I know. I have this thing now where I don't like a lot of foods touching each other.

I know how that is. My BF don't like certain foods to touch either. It all depends on what he's eating. He loves pickle relish on his
. I think that's just nasty.

I need a good hot dog a couple times a year.  My favorite is with sauerkraut and mustard!
But it really depends on my mood and I don't always have sauerkraut on hand.  I enjoy them just with ketchup, mustard and sweet relish.  Or just mustard and relish  I know some places get fancy and it looks good.  There probably are very few ways I wouldn't enjoy it.  But since they are a treat food; I'll go for my good ol sauerkraut standby.

I usually have Cincinnati style chili and shredded sharp cheddar on them.  That is the only way I like Cincinnati style chili.  I actually, other than this, don't care for the whole cinnamon meat thing.

Great question. Mustard and sauerkraut on a hot dog! (we're from NY). Maybe a little relish. Ketchup? - no way -- and mayo - absolutely not! I remember watching Clint Eastwood in one of his Dirty Harry movies and in one scene his remark was "anyone who puts ketchup on a hot dog should be shot".!

We were just in Costco today and had a hot dog for lunch. I always watch the people there to see what they put on their hog dogs. We always say that anyone who uses ketchup is not from NY - and anyone who uses mayo -- well they must be from outer space! (don't mean to insult anyone).

No offense taken. I grew up eating hotdogs like that. I don't have to have mayo but if there isn't anything else....there BETTER be ketchup!!!!  Maybe it's a Southern things, who knows...LOL

One thing I think is nasty is putting slaw on hotdogs.....slaw is a side dish, not part of the main course.

I don't care for slaw on hot dogs but I do like it on pulled pork sandwiches.

The only time I eat hot dogs is from food trucks and not very often. I don't really know what to put on it so I just pick the condiments that look freshest and not all picked-over. I stay away from sauerkraut that never seems to be good.

i like either yellow mustard or brown mustard on my hot dogs. while i like ketchup, and pretty much all tomato-based foods, i don't like it on hot dogs. i don't mind some sauerkraut with the mustard, though i don't usually have an open can of it on hand. when i make hot dogs at home, i never use hot dog buns with them though sometimes i'll use a slice of bread for the bun.

I only like ketchup on hot dogs and I only like hot dogs fried.  I love a bun that's toasted with butter!  My mother loved hot dogs with mustard and celery salt.  She was from Rhode Island, I don't know if that is a regional thing.  I used to work in Rhode Island and when I went for lunch, the waitress always called the hot dog a wiener.  Just minutes north in Massachusetts, we just call them hot dogs.

Baked beans are good on hot dogs, too.
I'd go along with baked beans. Yum. (Did you ever cut a nice hunk out of a Vidalia (or other sweet) onion and then fill the hole in the onion with baked beans? And then you grill the onion with the beans. Good stuff.
)

I love sauerkraut on hot dogs and on brats. Or lots of caramelized onions (and I've been known to throw a couple peppers in the mix, too).  Or cheese. Right now, my favorite is the zucchini sweet relish we just made. Oh, and ketchup and mustard. Rick wants ketchup; I usually slather mine with mustard.

Oh! And there's the New York Push-Cart Onion Sauce that is just delicious on hot dogs. Can't forget that. I will make that sometimes, too.

I like mayonnaise on one side, brown mustard on the other side, sweet onions, sweet pickle slices and coleslaw is I have some. And for the poster who said folks using mayo must be from outer space, no I am not. But I am from the Deep South. :lol3:
