Hi I have a 10 year old Siamese male cat. He always had bad teeth but recently started clawing at his mouth. Now he has a pretty bad wound on his lip which swelled up. He obviously can't eat dry so I been feeding him soft which has been eating. I just don't know what to do, I have absolutely have no money for the vets and would hate to put him down, he is still young and healthy cat. I been trying to clean the wound with peroxide.

Oh my! That looks awful! He definitely needs to see a vet. Have you looked into Care Credit? Lots of vets accept that and it's an easy way to pay off large bills. In the meantime, stay away from hydrogen peroxide. It can be damaging to raw tissue and if ingested it can make cats vomit. Clean with just warm water until you're able to see a vet.

You might be surprised. I had pretty bad credit when I applied for it and they approved me and gave me a $500 line of credit. Couldn't hurt to try! Plus since I've used that card and paid it off my credit score has gone up quite a bit! How's your kitty doing?

Unfortunately if you have no credit (like absolutely none), CareCredit will almost always turn you down. I suggest looking to see I there's a community pet fund in your area that could help. I got 500 from the Tacoma humane society for Zeph's dental extractions and cleaning.

By looking at the photo i would say that your cat is very sick, and probably in considerable pain. Regardless of how you proceed medically, can you turn to family or friends for assistance?
