a bit cofused about what to do.there are ten cats at the colony. one is not eating with the others because she has my scent on her.do I NEED TO GIVE THEM A TIME LIMIT AND WATCH FOR RACCOONS? THE CATS COME IN DIFFERENT GROUPS AT DIFFERENT TIMES.THE THIRD KITTEN IS PROVEING TO BE VERY HARD TO TRAP. for me and my very experienced cat trapper.

It sounds like it may be better if you can stagger feedings and watch for raccoons.  Have you called Animal Control yet?  They may be able to help, although make sure of the policy on feral colonies first.  Some communities will trap them all and take them to be killed at the shelter.  Our town has a feral ordinance that allows for established colonies as long as there is a registered caretaker.

Re: the thrid kitten.  Keep trying - sometimes it takes awhile to get the savvy ones.

No!  have another  kitten that shows up at the feeding station that is the same age as Little Sox (but less than a year old). I work part time in the evenings so I   do not have a lot of time. I leave for work about 2:30PM- 8:30pm. sorry    am not very time  organized. how would I SCHEDUAL DIFFERENT FEEDING TIMES?

USUALLY FEED THEM ABOUT 10am

Oh, sorry - I misread your post.   I thought because the cats came at different times, you were feeding at different times.  So, if you feed at 10 am, can you stick around for a few minutes each feeding - just to make sure the raccoons don't get to the food?  Otherwise, a call to Animal Control sounds in order.

I am so glad to see this topic, lisa1950!  Having the  same trouble with raccoons.  I feed one cat, mostly, and I see him in the morning and occasionally in early evening, but his evening appearances s vary so I do leave food out for him starting at 5:00 PM. Because there are other ferals in my neighborhood that I see once-in-a-while, I leave out a little extra.  Unfortunately, there is a family of 7 raccoons who come to dine. They are not afraid of me, or my two cats who watch them through the glass door. It's difficult to know what to do. I have not seen the family lately but this morning I saw claw marks of the type raccoons would have in the tin pan. I hope that you are able to keep them away from the colony you feed.

I had to put dog kibble at base of raccoon tree to keep them out of cat food and bird food. The mother coon will run off the babies when they get big enough and they hibernate in winter, so they will not be a problem soon
