Hi,
Need some help,my cat meg came in on Saturday afternoon limping, she is mostly an indoor cat, goes in the garden but never goes out, took her to the vet today and they kept her in for xrays to see if there were any fractures, picked her up just before, vet said there were no fractures but the tendon down to the paw was loose, the vet she has to have complete rest and must not jump, she likes to get up on the window ledge, how can I stop her jumping up? She's 14, how do you stop 14 yrs of her doing that? Bought her a cage on the suggestion of the vet but so far she won't go in it, how can I shut her in a cage when she's never been in one?
She says the tendon should heal with rest, anyone had this problem?

Do you have a room without any windows she can jump to, where you could confine her temporarily?

Otherwise the cage is your best option. She won't like it, but it will force her to rest so she can recover. Try to make it comfortable for her and put everything she needs in there. She might like it if you include a shirt or something that you have worn, so it smells like you.

By cage, we mean a large dog crate, something big enough to hold a litter box, food and water dishes and a bed, at minimum.  Then of course she'll need a couple of toys to play with.  It will be difficult on her, naturally, but best in the end.   You may need to play harp music in the background to calm her, and perhaps even spray around the cage with calming sprays.

To get her inside the cage, put her food dish in with food in it.  With all of her stuff in there, she should eventually go in there.  I would put the cage in a room where she can see you most of the time.  You may need to move the cage at night into your bedroom, if possible, and if that's where she usually sleeps.
