We have a GE Profile electric range. Yesterday (Sunday) morning, after the top oven went through its cleaning cycle, the door opened. But the display still said "Locked". And it's been stuck in the Locked/Unlocked cycle ever since. We've tried everything we could think of and I even Googled a bit. The range is electronic, so sometimes if you press two buttons together, things will happen. I know that if you press the 9 and the 0, that will unlock a locked oven door. If you press Clear Off and the Clock, that can sometimes stop a cycle. But nothing is working. And because it keeps cycling through, Rick finally went down to the basement and hit the circuit to cut power to the stove completely.

Which means that I have no stove. I have no ovens. This is not good.

Rick is on vacation today, so he's going to call to see if somebody will come in today. We highly doubt that will happen and I'm not taking a vacation day specifically to wait for a repairperson. So if he doesn't come in today, then the earliest he can come will be August 24th or 25th. Meanwhile, I shall make do. We have the microwave and we have the grill. I need to make a batch of snickerdoodles for Rick to take to Vegas with him next week, but my sister has already volunteered the use of her oven (and it will only cost me a dozen cookies
). I was talking to one of my co-workers yesterday; he volunteered his oven, too, for the same price.

I'm hoping for a quick fix, maybe it's just the door latch or perhaps a switch or something. I just hope it's not an expensive fix!
I don't know what it is about me and appliances lately.

Well, Rick just texted me. He reset the circuit to the stove and the stove is now working normally. No technician required. I don't know what will happen when I go to clean the oven again.
