I see it is same price as regular Merrick pate at chewy, with no carageenan. Has anyone whose cats liked regular Merrick pate tried it? How did cats like it?
Thanks I will get some from petco to try!I don't think our cats tried Merrick's regular pates but they love the LID duck and turkey... our pickier cat especially likes it. Our local Petco sells it so it was easy to give it a try.
No I feed only duck or chicken pate, try that less ingredients, or the new Merrick lid, no carageenan. How old is kitten, has she been wormed? My two are not turkey fans! There is turkey pate and turkey lid.bonepicker, have you ever noticed any digestive upset or soft(er) poo when feeding any of the Merrick which has carageenan? I've been feeding my new kitten Milly the 'Thanksgiving Day Dinner' type, which she loves. But there have been a few symptoms that make me wonder about its longer term use (unfortunately, it would be hard to attribute it to the particular Merrick she likes... time will tell).
Beyond the carrageenan, lots of Merrick's "Purrfect Bistro" foods, including "Thanksgiving Day Dinner," have potato and/or peas in them. One of our cats vomits if she eats anything with potato; I've noticed that a few other Cat Site members have said their cats don't do well with potatoes, either. I haven't noticed that anyone's mentioned problems from peas, though I don't feed them out of principle because they're just carby filler that cats don't need.bonepicker, have you ever noticed any digestive upset or soft(er) poo when feeding any of the Merrick which has carageenan? You are right I have used it and I have had no problems, the cats preferred the pates so I feed mostly those! She's about 18- 1/2 weeks now. She had drontal at the shelter when age 2.5 months, but I know that med only addresses some worms. Anyway, a day after we brought her home from the shelter, we visited the vet & had a well-check, etc. ... we tested her for worms then. The float tests done at that time showed no worms. (This doesn't prove she hasn't gotten any since, though, as drontal only affects some worms). I really don't think she has worms, however - I've seen no indications of this. (Her only problem has been ear mites, which we've been addressing.)
Well, I might try the turkey or the duck if her minor digestive issues keep up, thank you. I just thought I'd read once that you had also used the Thanksgiving Day Dinner? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, sorry!
