My cats have Cryptosporiduim. The vets are ordering in the medication as its rare and I know its difficult to treat. There both only young. My eldest has just turned 9 months and my littlest has had it from 14 weeks old, probably younger as she was ill the night I got her. If you had a cat with this, what was the outcome, just so I know what to expect? I have concerns over this as I know it can be passed onto humans too and children etc are more at risk, I have two nephews so if they didn't become cured, I just not sure what I'd do. Thanks.

This is indeed a rare condition.  Are you cats otherwise healthy, or do they suffer for FIV or some other mallady as well?

As for whether or not it can be passed to humans, from what little I can find on it, it CAN be passed on to people who have weakened immune systems
I suggest talking to your Vet (and possible your own doctor) about precautions to keep anyone around them safe, including yourself, untll they are been pronounced "clear" of this parasite.

My cats have another condition caused by it but I don't remember what they said it was as their main focus was around this. I had a long chat with the vet on the phone and my cats are in isolation as we speak, they've been in the spare bedroom for a few days but there okay in there even though I feel guilty, they have their huge scratch post, litter trays, bowl fulls of water, food, and a box full of their toys as well as a window to look out of, their favorite hobby and I am always popping in their for cuddles. I am keeping them away from visitors bar my boyfriend and when we see them we wash our hands after, when I clean litter tray I bleach it, and then wash my hands thoroughly after. They said there's a risk to all humans but the higher risk is those with weakened immune systems. They said its tricky to treat, they are trying a medication next week but it had to be ordered in due to rarity of usage, I do know however there's a chance my little ones may not be cured and that's what scares me and why I am posting here. I couldn't afford to manage their symptoms as I live alone and run a flat, it's cost so much this that I am currently as I speak borrowing money, it's cost £500 so far and I know it'll cost more and I can't be worrying about my little nephews coming around or my friend who has a child who has immune suppression and has been dangerously ill so many times due to his weakened immune system, it'd be like being on shut down so I am praying for a miracle and that my little ones get especially. They are more than just animals to me, they are my whole world, my best friends and without them I'd have a hole in my heart, wish i could speak to someone whose been in my situation before but everyone seems to have either not heard of it or heard of it being rare :(

I know what you mean about them being more than just animals
,    My furbabies are just that....my "babies".  I would walk through fire for them!

How long will it be before you know if this new medicine works?  Did the Vet have any idea?  Poor babies.   AT least they are together, so have company and someone to play with.  Do they even know they are sick.  I mean, do they seem to feel bad, or are they playing and wreaking havoc like normal kittens
.

that the medicine, once you get it, will clear it up and life can get back to normal.
