So i rescued a kitten back in like march, she's now like 6 or 7 months old... i was told it is better to get her neutered early as street cats develop faster, anyway to give you some background this cat was amazing!! ( Arabian mau ), she was so loving, energetic and crazy in a good way, she didn't really like being held but other than that she's pretty interesting. So going back to the subject, we did the operation like 3 weeks ago, took like 20 days to get the stitches off, she seemed pretty normal within these days, a bit less active but thats normal. Then when we got the stitches removed she feels like a different kitten...barely plays, always sleeping, meows aimlessly, and wanders sometimes without meaning, barely purrs and does this weird birdlike/purr pant thing when i look at her sometimes.. she doesn't follow me anymore everywhere i go, doesn't sleep in my room anymore and she always looks like there is something wrong happening...her eating, pooping and peeing is all normal... it also takes her a while to start playing but when she does it doesn't really last long plus its not that easy to get her interested.

i feel like i ruined her, my other cat i never got neutered and she had many problems so i didn't want to do the same mistake again, but now i regret it..i called the stupid vet i did the operation with he said its normal but I'm pretty sure its not. so if anyone knows anything or knows if shell be back to normal soon or has any theories please let me knows, its really bugging me.

Does she has a cat friend to play and be with?

It might be a good idea to take her back to the vet, or to another vet if you're not happy with that one. I've had all my cats spayed and neutered and I've never noticed any big personality changed in them (except for the fact that they stopped spraying in the house)

Does she seem like she is in pain to you? Sometimes cats purr to comfort themselves if they are feeling pain. To be honest these don't sound like normal after spay reactions to me. I'd start with a full health check to put your mind at ease, then try to find out if anything has changed in her environment that might be upsetting her.

:yeah: A 6 or 7-month-old is going to be a bit calmer than a younger kitten, but that sounds like there could be a health problem. Spaying or neutering tends to make cats cuddlier, so something else might have come into play.
