My current foster kitty and her kittens moved in with me a few weeks ago. The kittens were maybe five days old on July 17th, and are now toddling and exploring. Momcat has a strange, bone-like lump in her tummy which I can feel upon palpating her abdomen. It isn't her mammary glands or nipples, and it almost feels like a kitten. There's one round hard lump (which feels like a head), and then a longer bump that extends toward her ribs. It doesn't ever move, and she seems comfortable, with no fever or anything. What could even be going on? Has anyone seen anything like this? Even if she's pregnant again (she'll be spayed anyway) you wouldn't feel something so defined yet, would you? They're only about four weeks old.

She's going to a check-up on the 10th. The lump has been there the whole time, and for a while I thought it must have been a mammary gland. Her temp is normal, her resp. and heart rate are normal, I'm just really curious about this.

She will probably need a scan done to ascertain what the "lump" is. It's good she is seeing the vet on the 10th. Please let us know what you find out.

She is beautiful and the kittens are adorable :).

Well, her appointment is in about an hour. I suppose if it's not causing any problems, they may wait until her spay to check it out. I don't know what kind of equipment the humane society's vet has access to. Hopefully we'll see some answers, but I don't know.

They said she'd be fine until her spay, and that it could be a swollen part of a uterine horn or a mammary. Because she has no temp or other problems, they decided to wait. She has another appointment in two weeks, I'll ask again at that one.

Sounds good. Perhaps it is something that will go away when she is no longer nursing. I'm glad that you are keeping an eye on it.
