Does anyone know if one can have an allergy to a cat with flea treatment meds?  Does that sound completely crazy?  Or what about being allergic to a specific cat but not to other cats?  Is that possible?

I have had cats all my life.  We have had pretzel and princess for 4 years, until princess suddenly died of a stroke or a heart attack 2 weeks ago.  So we got a feral rescue kitten and I swear my nose is all tingly inside any time I pet him or kiss him or sniff him.  we don't ever use flea meds because I keep them strictly indoors only, but he came with fleas and needed capstar and also revolution.  I am not sure I am allergic to the pesticides that were put on the cat, or if I am allergic to the kitty in itself?  if so, why would I be allergic to one cat but not another cat, ya know?

Yes, to both of your questions.

It's certainly possibly that you could be allergic to an ingredient in the revolution.

Also, all cats have different levels of the protein that is known to cause most of the allergy issues people have to cats. The protein is found in the cat's saliva and dries on the hair/skin.

It's also possible that you could be allergic to something in the environment the kitten came from.

I would suggest giving the kitten a bath (Original Blue Dawn is a good option). You will need to wait at least 3 days after you applied the Revolution (perhaps longer? I can't remember specifically for Revolution.)
See if doing so alleviates your symptoms any.

Aside from that, it's really a kind of wait and see thing.

Even if you are sensitive to this kitten, it's possible that you may develop immunity in a few weeks or months. This happens more frequently than you would think.

oh, I sure hope it is just the revolution!  I can honestly tell you though, that it is definitely the cat or revolution.  I was out of the house for a couple of hours and after I came back, I cuddled with him and within a couple of minutes of snuggling with him, my nose is all prickly inside and it feels like I need to sneeze!  I can't imagine it is the cat itself, I mean, I go to peoples houses all the time and they have cats, and I've never had this problem before.  I can only imagine that it is the revolution... but then again who knows!  the kitten could have anything on him, he was a feral, so there's no telling what he got into!  I want to give him a bath, but he is just starting to gain our trust in holding him, and I am afraid that will sabotage our relationship.  I need to clean his ears out bc he had ear mites, and I am afraid to do that too, we are making such good progress!

Fingers crossed it's the flea meds and not him!

I thought I would  never be able to own a cat, until I met my cat that we own today! For some reason, my allergies are very very mild with our cat Nora. Her fur is definitely different than other cats I have met before. I also brush her a few times a week, to minimize her shedding.

So yes, some are allergic to different cats - just depends on their skin and coat :)
