I was just wondering where I would need to look to check in for potential recalls.  Should I just keep tabs on the particular food I'm feeding or is there some general site that will list them all?

I'm getting nervous because I've been doing some research and it seems even the quality pet foods aren't always what they appear (having by-products when they say they don't, etc).  I did a lot of research years ago when I had my last cat and I thought I knew what to look for ingredient wise and what I was willing to compromise on, etc.  But now it seems even the very costly, grain-free brands are lying and can't be trusted?  It's all very confusing!

I feed my kittens Performatrin Ultra Grain-Free Kitten Formula dry food.  And today I saw the store was having a sale on Taste of the Wild canned food and picked up a can to try.  They LOVED it but now I'm reading scary things about the food online.  Money IS an object for me so I can't afford the foods like Honest Kitchen or Orijen.  And now I can't trust foods like Wellness or Merricks?  Those were the go-to recommended brands when I first got my old cat.

I'm not really "afraid" per-se but I have found a few sites that said these top brands are actually owned but some not-so trust-worthy corporations or that these brands sell lesser-quality products as well so the writers of these sites assume the top line is suspect as well.  I don't know.  My main issue, I guess, is what is the point of spending the big bucks on quality food if it secretly has the yucky stuff in there the same as the lower quality.  I read that Blue Buffalo was sued for having by-products in their food even though they advertise to not do that.  Or that Merricks has had food recalls -- especially on their cheaper line of products.

I'm not obsessed with organics or avoiding processed or GMO foods.  I don't do that for my own family -- we simply can't afford it!  I would like to think the more expensive brands are at least BETTER than the corn-filled brands you find in the grocery store.  It is bit of a financial sacrifice to be buying the grain-free foods so I just don't want to see us get ripped off.  I hate to make it about the money but it's reality.

And as for "Taste of the Wild" I read a lot of stories of people's cats getting sick and dying but all the posts are from around 2010 to 2013 and there does seem to have been a major recall around that time.  But it still makes me nervous.

If I had to feed both go grain free on dry and wet you can afford on a 50/50 split
