It has been quite a while since I have posted to the group. I hope to find everyone well and in good spirits.

So much has happened in the last several months. My mother became gravely ill in September and passed away on Thanksgiving Day. I disenrolled from college just after mid-terms in order to bring mother home from the hospital and care for her. She was home with me only 8 days before returning to hospital and dying a few days after later. Needless to say, the holidays were saddened by our loss.

My kits are doing well. Dottie is 17 years old now, and still plays like a kitten. She is walking with a slight limp in the hind area, mostly when she awakens. The limping eases after she walks a bit. The vet assures me this is age related stiffness, not arthritis. Bleu-boy, 15 years old, is doing good after his fight with FLD last spring. He has days that he does not look so good, but he comes around after resting. I have mainstreamed his food in order to force him to come out and socialize. He is eating well, and will certainly let me know if the food dish is empty. Penney is now 14 months old. She remains small, weighing only 5.5 pounds. She is sweet as pie and her personality is really coming through. Her *missing* eye continues to drain, but is looking well enough that perhaps she can finally have the surgery needed to permanently suture the lids together. Duffy is 7-months old now. He is a large kitten weighing 10.5 pounds. He loves the water, and is a climber not a jumper. He is large boned, and muscular, and has soft fur like a bunny. I think there is a lot of Turkish Van in him. Duffy is the clown and acrobat of the group.

Since I am out of school, and not working, I hope to have more time to spend with you on this site. I look forward to checking out all the new pics and reading about everyone's purr-babies.

Regards,
Joyce

It's great to have you back, and I'm very sorry to hear about your Mother's death. It must be especially painful at a time usually reserved for happiness and rejoicing.

((((((((Joyce)))))))))

So sorry for the loss of your mother. Losing a parent is so very hard. (I lost my dad when I was 19)

Glad though, that you're back. Looking forward to catching up with you.

May this new year bring you health, happiness and good fortune.

I am sorry to hear you lost your father as well. I had medical power of attorney for my mother. When the doctor told us she would never leave the hospital and even with nutritional support wouldn't live but a few months, we decided to stop all medical intervention. She had slipped into a comatose state just a few hours earlier. That was on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. She died Thanksgiving evening. It was what she wanted. My mother was an RN and I think she knew better than anyone how sick she really was. I do miss my mom. We talked on the phone every day. There have been so many days in the last 5 weeks that I picked up the phone to call her and realized that she isn'there. All I can do at this point is be greatful that her suffering was ended.

Joyce,
It's so great to hear from you again. I had wondered where you've been since I hadn't seen you posting in the past month or so. I'm very sorry to hear about your Mother. Sounds like you've had a rough year & I truly hope that 2004 will be a year of healing for you. Glad to hear that the furkids are doing good & are getting better. Please give them scritches from me & the girls! Hope to see you around here more often & welcome back!

Shell,

It was a really rough year. I'm praying for a better year this time around. Since my husband died in 2001, it's been one traumatic experience after another for me. I think I've paid my dues and it's time for some positive things to start happening. I don't know how much more I can stand.

The kits are doing well. They are eating me out of house and home, but I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. The 2 young ones are such a riot! They spend countless hours tossing each other around the house, running and jumping, wrestling. They have both taken to sleeping on the bed with me. I have a queen size, but they always manage to sleep so close to me that I can't move one way or another without fear of disturbing them. I love to hear them chasing each other through the house ... amazing how much noise eight little paws can make! I just love to lay on the floor with them. They rub my face, lick me, and practically turn themselves inside out with desire for a belly rub. I love them to pieces!

I know how you feel about that
I don't know at this point if it will get any easier, it hasn't for me I know. I was always Daddy's little girl. I know whenever I go to their house I see Dad's car in the yard and think for just a second that Dad is in there waiting to here what has been going on with me and then I realize that he isn't there anymore not physically anyway. I can feel him in the house and know that he is there that way

I hope that soon we both will feel comforted in knowing that they are both in a better place free from their pain and suffering. I just have to remind myself that Dad fought a good fight but it was his time to go home and that one day I will see my Dad again as will you see your Mom again. Joyce if you ever want to have a cyber shoulder to cry on please feel free to PM me and we can talk. You take care of you.

Welcome back Joyce. You seemed to stop posting so abruptly that I thought you must of had more life altering moments than you wished to handle. Those kinds of things always put a damper on computer time don't they.
