my cat is about ten to eleven months old and is pregnant, I noticed a bloody discharge coming from her vagina and all she is doing is lying around now, but wants me near her all the time. I have put her a nest in a non drafty place with a towel in it and she won't stay in it she keeps walking around and then she'll just lay down for a while but when I moves she moves what do i do?

How far along in her pregnancy is she?

How much is she bleeding?

I know that she got stuck the first time on May 29th and I have counted the days from there which makes today the 69th day.

It sounds like her body is preparing to go into labor. Some discharge usually preceeds labor. She will probably go into her nest when it's time to deliver a kitten, but that could be hours, or even another day or so away. It sounds like she wants to be near you though!

I've had her since she was about a 1 or 2 months old and she sleeps with me every night and has been getting under the covers and scratching around what is that about?

She's exhibiting "nesting" behavior under your covers. She will probably go in the nest you've prepared for her when it's time. If she has the kittens anywhere else while you are sleeping you can always move them to the nest then.

You're welcome!

We have a good collection of links at the top of the page under Articles. If you click there and go to Pregnant Cats & Kitten Care you can read articles about cat pregnancy, and labor and delivery. The articles will tell you what to look for and what to expect :).

I hope she has a smooth delivery good luck! Are you planning on having her spayed after the kittens are weaned?

after all of the waiting for the arrival of my cat's kitten she only had one at 10:00pm last Friday night. She had been use to sleeping in the bed with me and would bring the baby in the bed with me but I kept taking her and the baby back to her nesting spot. Then I noticed last night when I checked on the baby the little paws and back feet were cold so I moved the nesting place to another location and it seemed to get warm but I left to go to the store and then to the lake and came home to check on it and it was dead. Idk if my cat really noticed it but she doesn't seem to be affected by the loss and she seems to want to be right under me now. What do I need to do with the dead kitten?

I'm so sorry the kitten died.  Most people bury them in the yard.

When you say you took the kitten back to the nest, did the mom stay with you?

She stayed in there for a little while with the kitten and I watched her and she wouldn't stay still and kept leaving the nest all the time I don't know if she knew that the kitten was going to die or what but she just kept abandoning the poor thing and wanting to go outside or come into the bedroom with me

I already thought ahead on that one. I mean she is only a kitten herself she's just eleven months old herself and this is her first pregnancy and I get attached to animals and I don't want this to happen again

Ok.  Good to hear.  Not every one realizes the cat can get pregnant again so soon.

Does she seem upset or is she looking for the kitten?

No she isn't looking for it she's just laying in the middle of the floor by me like she is relieved. She was playing with it rough Wednesday and biting and kicking it like it was a toy and I had to stop her. I don't think she realizes that it was her baby at all.

I'm so sorry. I know you are very disappointed.

Please make an appointment to have your cat spayed now so you and your cat will not have to experience this again.

She was biting and kicking her only kitten?
