Did anyone else watch it? I felt that most of the talent wasn't that great. I think they all thought that it would be the Kelly Clarkson show. She kind of looked bitter when she lost. I don't even think she deserved 2nd - the Belgium and the Brit I felt were better talents then she is (I find that she shouts alot). I am so glat Kurt Nilson from Norway won - he swept it! He definately had the most talent. I still can't believe Simon told him he wouldn't win as "ugly people don't win things like this". It is about talent and that he definately has! What does everyone else think?

Yeah, I was wishing that Kelly hadn't even got 2nd. She did look bitter that she didn't get 1st and I thought that she should have been happy to come in second in a World Idol competition. I'm also glad that Kurt won. He deserved it and he wasn't expecting it either. Kelly does shout a lot.

Hey, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Kelly Clarkson looked bitter at the end. And I'm really glad she didn't win-they were hyping it as the "Kelly vs the world" show (because it was broadcast in the US????). I missed the first show, but from the recaps, Kurt really was the best by far. And hooray for ugly people-you think Simon would have learned after Ruben and Clay won the last American Idol.

I don't even think Kurt is ugly - odd looking yes, ugly no. I like the fact that he is happily married with 2 kids. You could really tell he didn't expect it! He did an amazing job with the U2 song - Beautiful Day. What an amazing voice. What did you think of the rocker Peter Everard who did the Nirvana song? I was a little disappointed that Canada's Ryan Malcolm didn't do better. I was suprised that the Aussie guy also did poorly. I think that he screwed up doing a weird version of What a Wonderful World.

I agree he's not ugly. It just seems like American record producers are trying to push a pre-packaged image of what is "beautiful" and "acceptable". Heck, someone could look like a purple bigfoot as far as I'm concerned as long as they had a beautiful voice.

I was so glad to see the "Gnome of the Middleworld" win! I still can't believe that one judge said that to him! Kelly was a victim of her own hype I think. They were pumping her up so much in that show and I thought it humorous that in the first show she offered her opinions of the competition. Sort of reminded me of Tanya Harding saying about Nancy Kerrigan- "she skates well, but she needs braces!" LOL

Kurt has an absolutely amazing voice! I can't wait till he cuts his CD. He looked properly amazed that he swept all the countries. And I think if that pan Arab gal had sung in English, she would have made the number 2 spot-

They were totally pushing for Kelly to win. She was like mentioned every 10 secs it seemed. Glad the Hobbit guy won. He sang great! The guy I voted for came in 4th.....

I'm glad kurt won... what a voice!!! Will (the brit) did ok but he sang better in the series, gave it a bit more oomph!

I allmost saw it

, at least I heard it. I dont pay for the tv station that had this, but I can hear the sound. I was really surpirzed when Simon said that he only would win if this was on radio. I thought this was about singing, not a beauty contest!
I thought Kurt was really good, and IÂ´m glad he won.
I saw an interwiev with him on the news today, when he came home to Norway, then I could see him, so I could disagree with Simon, Kurt just isnÂ´t ugly at all

Hmmm...must be my eyes (cleaning glasses) Rueben may be big but he is def. not ugly, and Kurt (who I am SO pleased to see he won) isn't either...I think he's very cute. But then, I've always prefered men who were interesting looking versus classically handsome.

Though everyone around me is talking about it non-stop.

Seems that all the Guy Sebastian, (The Aussie guy), supporters around me never expected him to win. No one wanted the USA chick to win...I'm assuming that it's Kelly Clarkson. She's even had exposure over here and I don't like her.

She's not different from any other packaged pop star. Just my opinion.

I'm glad Kurt did win. He does have a voice, though I would like to see him sing something in which he does his own interpretation or something original.

And as for the judge who called Kurt a Hobbit....he was the judge from Australia.

I watched it and LOVED it!

I loved Kurt he had an amazing voice I'm so happy he won. I was suprised that Guy Sebastion didn't get higher as I rekon he's amazing(Yes I'm a New Zealander, saying an Aussie has talent,

But I truely think he's great, GO GUY!) I'm so glad Kelly didn't win although I think she's a good singer she wasn't a patch on Kurt... Just wait until there's another World Idol.. You'll be seeing NZ Idol.

Oops, I probably should have been more clear

Clay, Ruben or Kurt aren't ugly, just not the classic Hollywood/music industry handsome (Actually, I've got a little crush on Clay). I was just refering to the judges endless comments (in the American Idol shows, too) that if you don't fit the ideal mold, you'll never make it despite all the talent you have. And this last season proved them, especially Simon, wrong.

Heh, I know what you mean, They definitly don't have the "looks" that some stars have, but I rememeber hearing Clays song on the radio(Didn't know at that stage it was him) and loved it and when I saw the videoclip I still loved it.

I was actually pulling for Kelly Clarkston. But, I do think she has let the fame go to her head. It was probably best that she didn't win. I always thought that her and Justin Guarini would have made a good couple. Unfortunately, I heard that she turned him down when he asked her out.
