I am seeking a Cornish Rex to breed with my seal point Siamese kitten. I have been looking for a seal point cornish rex but they are almost impossible to find so I am going this route as a second option. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi. I don't think breeding is going to help you get what you want. Ancestry plays a big part in what a litter will turn out like.

Have you tried @LTS3's recommendation from your other thread?

How about a Cornish Rex rescue? There are breed specific rescues where y ou can still get a purebred cat. Some may be retired show cats, others were given up by their owners.

Here's one for the West Coast: http://www.cornishrexfriends.org/

And there's this: https://www.facebook.com/rex.rescue

Yeah, MagiksGirl is right here. Mating your female Siamese to a Cornish Rex will NOT produce colorpoint kittens ( the same pattern as her ) . Unless you use a colorpoint Cornish Rex or one that carries the colorpoint gene. Which to find a colorpoint stud is going to be as hard if not harder than finding a colorpoint Cornish Rex kitten to buy.

The colorpoint gene is ressive ! Which means BOTH parents have to have the colorpoint gene to produce colorpoint kittens. If only one parent has the colorpoint point gene NONE of the kittens will be colorpoint.

For example

If you mated your Siamese to a solid colored Cornish Rex all kittens will be solid colored like father
If you mated you Siamese to a tabby Cornish Rex all the kittens will be tabby like father

I agree, you wont get no point from this connection, unless that Cornish is a carrier - but that is rare, Cornish arent renown for being pointed.

Also, although siameses and cornish are partly similiar in the body structure, but unless you get your association to agree to this outcross, you will not be able to register the result. No pedigree certificates, and thus, you had produced another litter of moggies...   However nice looking, they will be moggies needing homes...

Not even to mention, you really wont know  what you get out.  YOU want probably to get out some sort of cornish, no?  Not just something vaguely look alike, no?  You dont have any quarantee, unless the cornish looks are dominant (I dont know much about it - I suspect these rex traits are recessive).

Is your pet pedigreed?

Are you prepared for the time and money involved (stud fee, vaccinations, possible C-section?)

Is your pet healthy, tested for disease and free of genetic disorders?

Does your pet have a stable temperament?

Are there are least eight champions or grand champions in the last three generations?

Does your pet fit the breed standard?

Did you get unrestricted registration papers and a five generation pedigree with your pet?

Where did you get your pet?

Is a suitable mate available that also meets these criteria?

Have you visited your local shelter lately?

Unless you are a registered breeder who's kittens are in demand please don't breed your pet. Its harder than you think it is to find homes for kittens. The basic veterinary care (vaccinations, worming, etc...) is costly, and pregnancy always puts your cat at risk.

Exactly. But they will all carry the colourpoint gene.
