I know the money part is hard, and she may be clear of any parasites, but you will get peace of mind from taking her in.

Diarrhea is always uncomfortable, and it may be a one-time occurence too, but almost all kittens picked up outside do have worms, so this is best.

And you'll get to see how she does throughout the day before you go to the vet this afternoon.

Thanks everyone!

@MagiksGirl  that is too cute! I had a huge smile reading every one of those! Great captions!

I am pleased to say no worms, no parasites at all! They said her diarrhea and even some of the streaks of blood were from her going from her mama's milk to the kmr, irritating her tummy and for me to try weaning her again soon! They gave her some pro-pectalin and sent her home with some to help clear up the diarrhea. I take a stool sample back in sometime within the next week or two, and they'll retest to check for anything else that may pop up before her deworming and vaccinations, but everything was great, temp was 100.2, heart and lungs were good as well! They said she is a healthy baby and to dilute the formula down even more with extra pedialyte and work on weaning her.

@Tsukiyomi  Thank you so much! I miss those babies. It's sad to realize just how unhealthy they were and that there was nothing more I could do, and that there was nothing I did wrong. Seeing this kitten thrive, watching videos of other little kittens, makes me realize just how sick they were from the start and it breaks my heart. She is meeting all her milestones and beyond. Anna LOVES to eat. She has went poopy in litter box twice. She tries to run, she plays already.

I am not sure if it was Hartz, I think it may have even been a worse brand than that. I usually recognize the Hartz label, and this was light purple with a lot of white on the carton as well. I think it was $9.88 and it was a lot of milk, so I didn't trust the quality of it.

I hate being so on edge worrying she will take a turn for the worse because of what I went through with those two angels. Every single feeding that she is still happy, healthy, and hungry, I thank God.

I am just glad that in hindsight I can really understand that putting my hurt aside, I showed Gravity and Sparrow so much love they would have never known of had I not rescued them from their situations...and to me, now I can see that is worth all of my hurt.

I hope and pray multiple times a day that this baby will stay healthy and that nothing will go wrong with her. We already love her so much. My husband came and watched me feed her last night and he had to wipe his eyes. So sweet seeing him that way. Usually he is fussing about me bringing another cat in the house! lol, but he loves her and already knew right from the start, we were her permanent parents.

This little piggy ate 150cc this 24-hr period and is 14.5oz, gaining 14g!
Aww I understand how you feel I really do it's a horrible feeling when you realize just how sick one you wanted to protect was and that you could do nothing. The paranoia that comes after is also something I can understand and it's hard to get past that fear (speaking from experience due to how Tsuki passed I still have it with Sera and to a lesser degree Vincent). I wish you the best of luck with this little one and shes very cute.

Did she have any more diarrhea before your vet appointment today?

Weaning is appropriate. I'd switch over to the original plan to go bottle, mush, bottle, mush for a bit.

Excellent report on her good health :).

Yes, she had it two more times, that is when I saw some small bloody streaks on the tissue when I was cleaning it up, but it didn't have a foul odor to it at all. She would meow and then poop would just drip out. She would try to go to litter box, but could not make it. Poor baby! We've been doing warm butt baths all day since it had gotten so drippy and she loves them. Plus I had spotted a couple of fleas on her, so I went ahead and did a small warm bath with blue dawn, as the flea comb was not working on her tummy, where they were at. She moves her little front legs out slowly in a swimming motion and just relaxes. I imagine it feels good to her poor little butt. I am running out to get some vaseline in the morning to put on there. I thought I had some, but can't find it. I hold her really close and wrap her in a warm towel and love on her for about 20 minutes after, or until she is completely dry. She just kneads and purrs and paws at me while we cuddle.

She hasn't had a BM since 3:30, right before we left for the appointment. I'm sure she may have a couple of more loose ones unless the medicine works quickly, but at least I can rest peacefully right now and just provide her with love and comfort.

It all sounds good like you are doing everything possible for her! Now she has the medicine, so just let us know how she is tomorrow. Good job with her! :)

She is still having some diarrhea, but it's not near as frequent. It's only been twice since we got home so far, so that's a good sign, and last time it had some slight form to it, instead of a watery puddle. She's had a total of 3cc of the pro pectalin, so hoping it soothes her more soon. I give her 1cc every 8 hours. I also got her to take half a teaspoon of the mush earlier tonight, so going to keep offering that in between feedings and see what happens! :) I do think it will be easier for me to start offering the milk in a shallow saucer and then add in the gruel after she starts doing that again because all she is looking for is that bottle! She roots around everywhere looking for it all of the time, trying to sniff it out and when she sees it, she runs to it and starts biting it, even if I have it sitting on the floor! lol

Gotta show off my dare devil! I turned around to grab her bottle and this is what I turned back around to! lol, so it has begun! I am also going to go pick her up some toys tomorrow because she is pouncing back and forth playing with her blankets like crazy kitty. lol

and totally off subject, but you have got to meet her brother, and her 3 sisters! Twins are Chibby and Libby, yellow tabby is Munchie Carlo, and gray and black tabby is Little Bitty! She will get to meet them soon enough...just a few more weeks!

I'm glad to hear her diarrhea is easing up. I do agree that it's her tummy getting used to her milk. She'll be fine though. I think it's sweet the way she loves her bottle :).

Still having a little runny poop every 4-6 hours, but it's in smaller amounts and finally bit firmer than it was, but still very little form to it, but haven't seen any blood in it all day today, not dehydrated, and is a happy baby! I also decided that since I am going to be really trying the weaning thing, I was more comfortable going with the Royal Canin Babycat kitten mousse in sauce for kittens 1-4mos. to mix with the formula permanently... such a smooth texture, and well, she loves it because within minutes of putting it down, she got down!

Okay question, so I am less uneasy. I know you guys said that you can't overfeed a kitten, but she will keep eating and eating if I let her. She is 15oz so should be getting about 120cc/day and I have went from every 3 to every 4 hours, meaning she gets 6 feedings a day. I offer mush in between every other meal. If I were to give her the full 30cc that she demands at each meal (LOL) she would be getting about 180cc over a 24-hours period. I guess my main worry is aspiration from eating too much or for her loose stools to get worse again if I let her keep eating, or for her to keep having an overstuffed belly to where she may not be that comfortable. Within 10 minutes she will settle down after searching around for more. I have been giving her 20cc-25cc.feeding, but I hate how she keeps searching for more and it makes me feel bad. lol

Also, we were wanting to transition her to our room so we have more time with her and she has more room to explore. She is really good about going into her carrier to go to sleep every time, but I know she'll soon want to snuggle up to us and that is what I want, is for her to become an extra loving snuggle baby... and the lowest temp our bedroom gets is around 67-70 through early morning hours. Would this be safe if I leave her heating pad in her carrier and a warm bottle and have her carrier covers around the sides to be free from drafts? The room is kitten proof.

The bedroom plan sounds fine. You can check her in the early morning, and if her paws are cold you'll know that it's too cold for her.

I'm thinking you should start giving her mush at every feeding, plus her bottle directly after. She should be full with that. Eventually, she should eat more and more solid food and drink less and less milk, but that can happen slowly over the next 3-4 weeks. Kittens who have a mom eat mush and nurse for several weeks, it's part of the transition.

It just does sound like she's hungry, so more solids plus the bottle is probably the way to go for now. You'll be able to wean her off the bottle over time - no hurry if she's eating her solids. It just doesn't sound like the milk-only feedings are filling her up :).

Great, I will do that! I am so excited to have her in the bedroom with us! I am still keeping her away from my other cats until I take her back to the vet in a couple of weeks. :) When hubby is sleeping, I'll still be taking her to the bathroom for her night feedings.

That sounds like a good plan, I guess the vet kinda pushed weaning quicker than he should have. He made me feel so rushed by it, but I have realized that I have to do what is best for her and her needs and that she will get there in her own time with mommy's help! She happily just lapped up about 2 tbs of the mush. I will offer it every meal now and then offer the bottle after she finishes mushing lol. You're right, she is a quick growing baby and the bottle is starting to not be enough for her. I think she is starting to realize that mush is yummy too! I have been taking the plastic spoon with a tiny amount on it and kinda scooping it in her mouth and after two or three times, I find she usually goes for the mush. :)

and now we're a clean happy baby!

By the way, you can cut the tags off her toys with scissors. Just cut it as close to the toy as you can :).

Okay, I'll do that! I hate tags anyways, not sure why I haven't done it already! lol...and growth spurt alert. She had only gained 0.2oz each day for the past couple of days, so it was on the lower end of gain, but I put her on the scale tonight and she is 15.8 now! Must be the mush!

Her poops are still what I consider runny, and she goes about 4-5 times a day, and makes it to the litter box each time, but it's not a whole lot, and she is showing no other problems at all, while I hate her little butt is raw, I think that is the only major thing the diarrhea is hurting right now besides an obvious tummy upset. She's not bloated, not running a fever, not uncomfotable, or fussy...always wants to cuddle and play after she eats...I will be glad when it clears all of the way up though, but I am not alarmed anymore like I was, and I'm taking another sample to the vet mid- next week and if it is still the same, maybe they'll give me something else for her - I am just glad it is not debilitating.

I am just so happy with her progress.
