She is 12.4 oz! She's already drank 60cc of milk in the past 6 hours, so just making sure that if she goes over the 99cc (which she will! LOL) that she will be okay. I am just a big worry wort.

I thought she'd take to the bottle soon!

She's close to 12 ounces, which at 8 mL per ounce, comes to 96 mL per day, which means at four feedings six hours apart she needs 24 mL per feeding. And that's a minimum. More is always better! It is almost impossible to overfeed a growing kitten.

I'd suggest the bottles every six hours, with mush feedings in between at the 3-hour mark. If she's 3 weeks old she needs to eat about every 3 hours. So that would be 4 bottle feedings and 4 mush feedings in a day. Before and after each feeding, and anytime in between, put her in her litter pan. If she goes on the floor or blanket again, I'd put the poop in the pan and show it to her so she gets the idea that's where it goes.

She's just so precious! :)

And it's really up to you - if you want to give her the bottle every 4 hours and a couple spoons of mush in between that's fine too. I think kittens need to eat frequently as their tummies are tiny. You kind of need to play it by ear as to how hungry she is. She'll be peeing and pooping a lot too ;).

Again, it's hard to overfeed a growing kitten.

I just got goosebumps reading about your new rescue.  She really does resemble Gravity.  Looking forward to more updates, and learning her name.

Congrats on the vet technician course acceptance. Your love and patience with animals makes you a natural.

I followed your Gravity and Sparrow threads and was so sad they didn't make it. This new little baby is just adorable and I'm so glad you found each other. She's really a doll and it's uncanny how much she resembles Gravity.

Thanks so much everyone! My husband was having a really hard time with Gravity, especially, although he was upset about little sweet Sparrow too. He was wanting to do all he could to save him, no matter what cost, but it was just not meant to be. Of course, I had a breakdown after both of them passed.

He touched our lives in a way no other little sweetie has yet, until this little girl. It's all just so weird, but so comforting! She is still doing great! She drank 25cc of milk earlier, putting her at 85cc so far for the day, which still has two more feedings in it - and chowed down on about two tablespoons of her mush. I love her little burps! I go in and check on her every 45 minutes it seems, and she is usually looking around quietly and purring or sleeping and purring her little heart out.

We have come up with a name!

Anastasia, which means resurrection. Although we are not crazy to say "oh what if this is really Gravity?" and make ourselves believe something silly, we feel a peace of honoring him in this way through her, seeing as we were contacted about her literally a month after Gravity got sick, and when I went to pick her up, she looked so much like a three week old Gravity baby. The name seems fitting and she does look like a little Anna Banana to me!
I have a million nicknames for my cats and they respond to them all. LOL

Here is a video of her chowing down!

Thanks everyone!

I was cleaning her with a warm cloth and did her butt area and she pooped. It was slightly runny, not full on diarrhea though, but somewhat, and it smelled just like her wet kitten food. Is it most likely from change in diet, you guys think? And should it clear on up soon or should I withold the mush mixture until it checks up?

I think so too. It was loose again. There was not a whole lot, but it was still watery/light and worries me since I know how easily they can dehydrate. She has been avoiding the mush, so I do know her tummy isn't feeling well. She's been taking the bottle just fine though, 28cc at 11:00pm and 28cc at 5am. I also think part of the reason she has slowed down on the gruel is because she is taking the bottle better than she was the first day with us. The last time she ate any of the mush was 4:30pm yesterday...she ate some for hubby while I was at my moms, but she did really well with her bottle all day yesterday and all through the night every 5-6 hours and has taken in 25-30cc each feeding.

She has also began wanting more cuddles and just stares up at me. It makes me laugh because she looks at me so serious, like she's trying to figure me out...like "you're not the mommy I'm used to, but you are doing the same things, why are you so big and hairless and funny lookin???" LOL, and she has started getting a little spunky to, as far as reaching her paws out learning to play, grab, and nibble and rolling over for belly rubs and starting to try to walk fast, to a slight run, lol.
I am heading to the store this morning to stock up on some more kitten food. I am use the Science Diet pate kind, avoiding fish-based.

I am going to pick up some pedialyte, and organic canned pumpkin at the grocery store as well, because if she has another loose stool, I want something that is going to help bulk it up and I read pumpkin works some magic when it comes to dietary/stress upset.

Hopefully her tummy checks up soon. I hate when things happen on weekends.

I've been debating, should I plan to take her to the vet next week to begin deworming to be on the safe side and see if they want to give her any antibiotics (albon) for anything bacterial that could be going on or as long as there isn't a problem should I wait until around time for her shots? Money is tight right now with previous recent vet costs going on, but want to do what is best for her and know what you guys have done when it came to the vet and 4 week old kitten, as she is approaching 4 weeks! :)

Thanks guys!

I love her name - Anastasia! :)

I think you just need to give it a couple of days and let her tummy adjust to her new diet. Her kitten poops from the KMR should be toothpaste consistency.

I think the vet can wait if she's not sick, and she doesn't sound sick. She doesn't need to be on mush right now. She's clearly enjoying her bottle. Bless her little heart!

Thanks guys! That makes me feel relieved. I was trying to not go in a freak out mode because of how things went downhill so quick with Gravity and Sparrow. I pretty much didn't sleep at all after she had her first runny BM, but just got finished taking a GOOD nap after I felt better about her BM status! I always keep a check on her breathing making sure it's not labored and that it's normal.

Luckily, the diarrhea was never so bad to where she made a mess on her bedding or anything, it was just with stimulation. (I help her before and after every feeding, as she doesn't seem to quite have the hang of it all just yet, as it is usually always a good bit of pee. I see her being better at going on her own within the next week.) I was so worried so I kept checking back often. I did not want her just laying in her poop, if that had happened.

I am going to stick to the bottle for a bit and offer more gruel mid-next week maybe, or towards the end of it.

She ate 30cc at 2:30 and no diarrhea since 9:30! I did feed her 0.2mL of canned pumpkin mixed with 0.2 unflavored pedialyte before she ate at 9:30 just to make myself feel better and I knew it wouldn't hurt anything. Perhaps, that little bit did help aide in helping regulate her little tummy from all that gruel she was chowing down on before she fell in love with her bottle.

She was also 13.4oz at her 2:30 feeding. Meaning she has pretty much gained 2oz since we got her.

She has gained 2 ounces already! That's great! She seems so happy now. I think she was just starved when she chowed down on that gruel. Now she's happy having the bottle. I thought she was being a little too grown up for her own good - this is more like it :).

OK, first off I want to say there is NO WAY of containing her anymore! LOL, every time we go in there to potty, she comes charging at the front of the carrier chirping at us! lol, so I have sanitized my bathroom again really good, made sure it was safe and kitten proof and took the hinges off of the carrier and made a small towel ramp she can use to go inside of it. I also put clean towels and rags on over half of the bathroom, have her litter box out, and have her a very shallow saucer of water available. She is running around everywhere! Our bathroom is always warm.

She was also yelling at me for some more milk two and a half hours after eating 30cc so I gave her 15 more just a few minutes ago and she seems as happy as could be after she got what she wanted and way playful today! lol

Just an idea...when I am cleaning her, she rolls over for me to clean her belly and then attacks me the entire time! LOL, and yes those are little Anna Banana scratches on my hand!

What a cutie! :)

I meant to mention earlier that she probably needs to drink her bottle about every three hours since you're not doing the gruel in between right now, but I do believe she is letting you know what she wants very well!

You might want to trim the tips of her claws :).
