wanted to say hi to everyone.  I joined the forum today because my cat's behavior has changed.  this is where I posted a reply:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/290557/change-in-behavior-because-of-cruelty/60#post_3804689

we gave our Siamese seal point neutered 9 yr. old male a bath because bugs go on him from an open window.  now he's acting strange.  I think he's coming around but not sure.  I posted it over near grooming and abuse because all we did was rid him of bugs and he acts like his feelings are hurt and he doesn't like us.  thanks you.

Hi and welcome! :)

For how long has your cat been acting strange towards you?

My cat HATES going to the vet and every time I have to take her she will start avoiding me and some times even hiding (if the visits to the vet need to be for various days).  This really breaks my heart but I know she does this because she knows I'm the one who takes her there and she does not wanna go, but even when she's avoiding me and all that she will always come to me when she wants food and by the end of the day she will start acting more normal since she knows there are no vet visits at night. This behaviour doesn't last long, if it was a 1 time visit then it'll last for a couple days only.

Does your cat HATE being bathed? I'm guessing he doesn't like it but if bathing is a particularly BAD experience for him he may actually be resentful towards you right now. If his strange behaviour hasn't lasted long I wouldn't be too worried, especially if he's coming back to normal. You could try pampering a bit more than usual so he forgets that he's kinda mad at you right now.

If this has lasted for more than two or three days or you notice something else is wrong then you should probably ask your vet.

hi renflox, thank you.  so he's mad at us.  he is going to the door, being friendlier but he's still worrying us.  he got his bath about 3 days ago.  he had a bath by a professional groomer 2 yrs. ago and was not mad at us.  we did it ourselves and it feels like he's shocked we would do this to him even though he's not scratching and itchy.  he's such a smart cat why can't he put 2 + 2 together
he feels like we betrayed him.

Oh I wish they could put 2 and 2 together every time but sometimes they just can't :p

Every cat has its own personality so perhaps your guy is a tad more resentful than other cats, at least he's not vindictive, cause I've heard stories of very vindictive cats.

You should totally keep an eye on him to make sure that he's only mad at you and not suffering from something else, cats can act weird when they have certain health problems, but I like to think that he's only a bit angry right now.
You should share some pictures of your boy :)

good morning renflox, my cat looks just like yours.  today he is better.  he's hanging around the front door trying to get out.  he's an indoor cat and we never let him out.  he's gotten out before and he zig zags around potted plants so we can't catch him.  he is something else.  my husband is the one that is so upset and making it much worse.  it will take maybe a few days more and hopefully he will watch tv with me on the bed and sit on upholstered furniture again.  at least he's not scratching and itchy anymore

He will forget it and go back to normal soon enough! Have you tried some flea prevention drops such as revolution. You just apply them to the cats neck once per month- to prevent fleas, mites and other parasites! You will probably never have to bath him again. I've never bathed my cats, I wouldn't unless they get covered in something poisonous or really dirty. Most cats hate bathes!
