I also have a question. We found two kittens that were about 1 day old. We've now had them a week. We visited the vet after we had them a few days and she said they looked good. My question is they are sleeping around 4 hours in between feedings but are eating about 7ml of formula each feeding, is that ok???
They are very strong little girls and we keep them warm by a heating pad. I just was afraid they were sleeping too long and eating too much.

How much they shall eat, depends in much on their weigh.  Please get in their weigh, in grammes or in Oz.   Its difficult to give too much.  The danger is sooner too little...

I mean, plese give us the weigh, so we shall help you calculate the suitable amount.

On Thursday they each weighed 4.5ozs
The rule of thumb is 8ml /Oz a day.  Lets pretend it is 5 oz.  5x8=40, so much kmr or goat milk they shall have every day.

If they ate every 4 hours, its 6 times a day,    gives about  7ml each time.     Right what thay got.

Now, smallish borne kittens shall add 6+ grams a day, normal big kittens 10+ a day, so today, a week later, they are about 2 oz more...

And thus, what was on the spot a week ago, is somewhat too little today...

Exactly what brand of kmr - kitten mother replacement milk - do you use?

They are eating bio spot active care
A brand I dont know anything about,  no recommendations but no advicing against (although I found in on Google). .

I usually recommend 3 brands Im sure of:

Pet Ags  KMR in powder, stage 1.   This seems to be te safest of them all.

Royal canins kmr - which too seems good.   Their bottle is good too.

And if you dont find a good kmr - goat milk is almost always useful.  Raw goat milk is excellent - although may be pricey.  Bottled full fat is OK...

But if you are happy with this Bio spot, no troubles with constipation nor diarrhea, proceed with it if you wish, at least, till the package is eaten up.

A few more questions, they now want to sleep 6-8 hours in-between feedings. Is that normal? And should I wake them to eat? I usually wake them after four hours. And I still have heating pad on low, vet said after 10 days I could turn it off, should I?

I would leave the heating pad  on longer.  The kittens cannot regulate their body heat until 3 weeks old and if you have AC they may still like the extra warmth.

I think you need to wake them to eat.  Are you weighing the kittens?  How much do they weigh and how much are they eating?  They should be gaining 6-10 grams or .2 - .4 ounces a day minimum.

The heating pad needs to stay on for 3 weeks as handsome kitty handsome kitty said.

At this age you must wake them for feedings.

Do you have a current weight on them? They should be eating almost double what they were in the beginning if they have been gaining the proper amount of weight.

Please give us an update on how much they have been eating at each feeding.

Aren't they only about 8 days old?

They are 12 days old now
Last week they both weighed 4.5ozs
Today one weighs 7 Ozs and the other 6.8ozs
They started out eating like 2-4ml of formula
Now they eat 6-8ml, and they both are using the bathroom. So I guess we are still doing ok!!

Separate them from the 3 month old period. The babies have enough to deal with right now. It's hard to say if it will change but most likely it will work itself out in the end as long as proper introductions are done.

Looks like the kittens are on track to weigh a pound at four weeks.  As the kittens grow they need more food.  To figure out how much to give them, multiply their weight in ounces by 8 ml/cc and divide by the number of feedings in 24 hours.

At the posted weights your kittens should be drinking 10-12 mL per feeding every four hours. They need to eat more and gain more. They need to weigh about one pound at 4 weeks, and right now they are a tad underweight for 12 days old.

They sure are cute! :)

Yes, it's okay. If you suspect constipation you can add a couple drops of olive or vegetable oil to the formula to soften things up. Tummy rubs are helpful too.

A Mama cat stimulates pooping by licking kittens abus upward toward tail. You can do this with a dampened washcloth in warm water, and gently rub kitten on a us, upward towards tail. And rubbing with warm washcloth cleaned teaches kittens to groom. I got a younger starving feral kitten at 3 to 5 months old. Today Mango is age 4 years. She grooms obssessively! I have to feed her Hairball Control food! If I pet her, she has to groom that furr too!
