Help please.  My two senior cats need to find a loving home together.  no rehoming fee.  They are two females, about 14, sisters, and very good kitties.  they are all 4 paw declawed, always use their litter box.  both love attention.  a quiet home is needed .  I will be relocating down south, but traveling with work, and, the poor dears will not take to being home for weeks alone.  Therefore, I am  the sad decision to find them a new loving home.  you can PM me for more  info.  I live in WISC in Appleton.  Thank you.  can hardly post on this site....typing does not work here. >>>

Hi and welcome to TCS!

You're in a really tough spot.  Very few people are going to want even one let alone two 14 year old cats.  I work at a shelter and age is probably the number one problem in finding homes.  Your adopter is likely to be facing medical costs, possibly significant costs (or euthanasia) from anytime after the adoption to at most a couple of years.

Honestly your situation is close to hopeless and leaving them at home for long periods of time is as you say not fair and I wouldn't do it.  Your best chances in the following order are:

- Family

- Friends

- A good no kill rescue group that you accepts your cats because you made a sizeable donation (basically a bribe to cover all their future expenses) but the sad truth is that two bonded 14 year old cats could spend a very long time, possibly a sizeable percentage of their remaining lives, in a cage.  I would google and contact every shelter and rescue group in your area.   How much time do you have before you have to leave?  Is there some absolutely compelling reason that you can't bring them with you?

- If you were to make an ad like on craigslist, you must charge a fee to avoid the people who never  pay for cats and want them for terrible reasons, but you could offer to pay the first $xxx amount of vet bills with proof of medical care for the rest of their lives as an inducement.

There are people who only want previously declawed cats, and that might work slightly in your favor,

Sorry and very sad about this situation with your elderly kitties. Their chances of finding a home together - which must be together as you say - is very slim to none. A very, very, very last resort would be a shelter but I fear they will surely live out their lives in a cage, probably become quite ill from stress, and in all honesty - if that were the case - I think that would be an awful existence for them to spend their last days on this earth - in a cage so hoping that is not even an option for you anyway. :cross:

I would contact any and ALL friends, family, vets, groomers, co-workers, etc. etc. etc. that you can think of. Make up a flyer and place it at vet's offices, groomer's and pet stores all over your town asking for help or even a foster type network. You could even call some humane societies and see if there are any foster homes that could take the girls together long-term. Believe it or not, there are foster homes that only take in elderly cats/dogs and give them good quality care for what is left of their life - and sometimes that is years even at age 14. There are good people like that out there!

I would actually encourage you to bring them with you even though you have to travel IF you cannot find someone to take the girls. They would be better home alone together for lengthy periods of time with a cat sitter coming in, rather that the latter - or last resort. Best of luck and we wish you and your kitties all the best in finding a suitable situation. :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:
