Hey Everyone,

My husband and I found a 2 week old kitten, she was pure white and her furry mother left her in a box almost starved but now she's already 15 weeks (time flew) and now we are curious as to what breed(s) she could be..... Her mother had 6 or 7 other kittens but none looked like she did, there was one orange tabby, one all black, one grey, one black and white, one grey and white, then a few calico kittens(which is what furry mother was).

So now to my little beauty..... Her name is Nala. She was all pure white with bright blue eyes when we found her now she has grey ears and a dark grey tail with stripes down her body and some on her face. Still has her bright blue eyes too. A little about her personality, she is very loving super playful(of course she's a kitten) but she's also a little piggy too. Yes I know no one can give me a 100% answer but it would be nice to have some options lol We have heard she's part lynx (sorry about my spelling) and part Siamese. Thank You All!!

An absolutely stunning little beauty. But she is no special breed, a perfect example of a domestic shorthair. What makes her unusual is her colour, and her parents must have been carrying some interesting colour genes. I am not an expert in cat colour but I would hazard a guess that she may turn out to be a silver tabby. Tabby is not a breed but a particular pattern of coat markings and comes in several types and many colours. Most common are the grey, brown and red tabbies but there are also blue, black and silver, much more rare. Whatever she grows up to be, she is beautiful.

Nala is a lynx point, yes, or a tabby point.  Look alike of an old type siamese, as is quite common in such cases.

Both parents were carriers of the recessive point gene, but they themselves were NOT pointed. The siamese ancestor could be even 50 generations back...

We know it was so, because its only Nala alone of all the littermates whom is a point.  You tell you know mom was a calico.  If father were a point, about half of them kittens would be points.   The father was thus a nonpoint tabby, carrying only one tabby gene of the two possible.  We know it, because tabby is dominant, and if the father carried the gene doubled, all kittens would be tabbies...

Its of  course possible we had more than one father here, its even rather probable, thinking on it - because half of the kittens should be tabbies with ONE father, the  tabby.

So one father was a tabby and point carrier, and at least one another - not.

Interesting.  They often explain different looks on kittens by there being several fathers, as its common knowledge out in the open its common with several male cats mating. But often its not at all necessary to presume so, genetically speaking.   So it seems, its often ONE of them whom get it all.

Here is one of the few cases Im almost sure there were more than one male involved in the creation....   :)
