Need advice, I am not sure if something is wrong or if I am being a nervous cat-Mom.

Over the past few hours, Indipoo is acting like she feels unwell. I can tell she is very uncomfortable, but she suddenly won't let anyone touch her.

She had been trying to get the other cats to come in the bathroom with her, but now she is hitting, hissing, and swatting them if they try to get near her.

She is laying in the bathroom looking forlorn. She did eat ok earlier.

I sat down next to her, and she got up and moved to the other end of the bathroom. I don't see any rippling other than the kittens moving a bit. You can just

tell she isn't feeling good.

Should I be concerned?

It is time for her to have her kittens. Is she having any discharge, and is her vulva dilated?

You'll need to check and let me know.

I'm sure she's about to go into labor which could explain the confusing behavior. All those hormones would surely drive anyone crazy for a little bit! Lol, anyways I'm sure she wants you there for reassurance just at a distance maybe.

Sending positive energy to your Indipoo and yourself :)

@sarthur2  she isn't having any discharge and as far as I can tell her vulva isn't any bigger in size.

She has been up and down all day so far - with her moods and the way she seems to be feeling.

Very contrary with food. She will not eat the kitten chow, even mixed in soft food. She did however eat the regular cat food that is set out for all my furbabies.

Is this just hormones then? Because she is ready to have the kittens?

@MagerisI hope you are right! Waiting is hard sometimes. Plus when you cat acts like she doesn't feel good, but nothing is happening in regards to labor you aren't sure what to do or think.

Kind of funny, when it comes to kittens, and orphans no problem I know what to do, etc. pregnant cats are a whole new ball game and I feel like a fish out of water. lol

That's not progress :(.

I was hoping she was showing some outward signs.

Something should happen soon. Since she's not in distress and has no discharge there's nothing to do but wait. She's got to be near the end though!

I was hoping she would be too. We do have another vet appointment on Wednesday - if nothing happens before then.

The kittens are moving around, you can tell they are crowded. My concern is her feeling unwell then feeling better. I don't know

if that is normal at the end of cat pregnancy. I was concerned such as is her labor starting and then stopping for some reason.

Wednesday vet appointment is good. I would not opt for an induction without an x-ray first to determine the development of the kittens. Even a couple of days early can pose risks.
After all, you're not sure how far along she is. She could have 5 days left, or 2. Sigh ...

Labor can start and stop, and no cat feels good when they are about to pop.

For now I'm hoping she begins to show signs of active labor.

They actually called me a bit ago to see how she was doing. They told me the same thing you just said - that labor can start and stop. Which is what the vet tech thinks is happening here. She said that happens as the cat's body gets ready to labor actively. She said that when that happens a lot of times the cat suddenly goes into fast active labor. Is that true?

I told the vet tech what has been happening and after speaking to the vet they want me to wait until Thursday to bring her in, unless she is in any kind of distress, etc. Because of how stressed she is with going to the vet, they want to give her an additional day to have the babies without the added stress of a vet visit.

They seemed to think the babies will be born before Thursday, so we will see. I really feel for my other cats lol they are very confused with her behavior. After hissing and hitting anytime anyone get near her, she got all lovey dovey. My other cat looked so confused because an hour before she had swatted her in the face when she tried to give her kitty kisses. And the other one ran the other way when Indipoo decided to come into the kitchen and snack on regular cat food.

What is a good odor eliminator/neutralizer to use on cat urine or feces?

My pregnant foster is having bad diarrhea. She hasn't hand any accidents, but drops have leaked off of her and  I have found several spots on my carpet, cleaned them up, but am not sure what else to  put on them.

Is there anything I can give her for the diarrhea? I remember reading on this site somewhere that late in pregnancy diarrhea is common.

It is common that their systems begin to clean out ahead of labor.

You can mash some canned pumpkin into her wet food. The pumpkin seems to help nicely with diarrhea.

Any dilation occurring yet?

Ok doing that with the canned pumpkin. See if that helps. Kenzi supposedly has another week or so to go before her babies come.

No dialation yet with Indipoo. Eating great today and is very lovey dovey, mostly with Kenzi.

It is funny to watch the two together. I am beginning to think both will have babies around the same time and keep me hopping.

We went to the vet today after all. My foster started vomiting a lot last night and so both girls went to the vet today. Kenzi (foster) her vomiting and diarrhea is pregnancy related and she had subq fluid to replenish her fluids and an injection and is much, much better!!

Indipoo is making progress!!!! Her milk is in and flowing. The vet told me the kittens should be here within 24 to 72 hours. She is around 70 days along and yes a bit overdue. Based on how active the kittens are, the kittens are not in distress, etc they are going to allow things to happen naturally. Since she is in prelabor and her milk is in and yes there is a little dilation they think inducing at this point would be wasted. She hasn't lost her mucus plug yet, but the vet said that isn't a concern since a lot of cats don't lose the plug until they hit active labor.

What the vet was concerned about is the fact that not every nipple has milk. She is hoping once the babies come that the milk will come in on the other nipples as well. But she wants me to keep a very good eye on if they are getting enough to eat based on that. She was floored when I told her we already have a scale and kmr and such.

Forgot to ask the vet what to do if they have not arrived after 72 hours lol. I remember reading a post or article on here about how long after milk appears kittens are born. I can't find it though. Typically, once the milk is in how long before kittens are born?

@Handsome KittyI didn't see your post yesterday sorry. That is interesting. I am thinking that is what these two are going to do. Co- mom I guess you call it. I tried to find the posts you mentioned, but couldn't. As long as they get along and every baby is fed and taken care of, I am fine with them doing that.

Funny thing, when I initially fostered Kenzi, she came to me as a 1 week old orphaned kitten. From the beginning, Indipoo was very close to Kenzi. She used to try to mother Kenzi back then and would get into the cage/nest that I have for orphaned kittens and just cuddle her and bathe her. They were very close, right up until Kenzi was adopted out when she was 9 weeks old. Indipoo took it hard when Kenzi was adopted out. Funny that now Kenzi is back with us and they are both pregnant.

The lady from the rescue group called me a bit ago to see how Kenzi was doing. I told her  that I want to keep Kenzi and adopt her. She went through so much with the people who had adopted her, and is so happy to be back here. Thankfully what she went through with them did not affect her sweet personality. So, as of 20 mins ago, Kenzi is no longer a foster kitty. She now has a permanent home with us.

It all sounds as if you are going in the right direction, and what wonderful news about Kenzi! I am sure we are all on tenterhooks for your news over the next few days. Good luck with it.

Thank you @Handsome Kitty. I read through the thread. I am thinking that is what these two are going to do. I am grateful I have two that will be nursing. The vet said Indipoo only had milk in a few of her nipples. They are hoping it will come into the others after the kittens come.
